DETROIT, Michigan -- The Texas Rangers slugged five home runs, including back-to-back homers to start the game, en route to a 10-5 victory over the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park

With right-handed pitcher Mike Pelfrey making the start in the Motor City, Rougned Odor and Nomar Mazara hit solo homers in consecutive at-bats to lead off the game and give the Rangers an early 2-0 lead over the Tigers. It was the sixth home run for Odor and the fourth for Mazara. The duo are the first pair of teammates 22 years of age or younger to lead off a game with back-to-back jacks.

The Tigers (14-15) got a run back in the bottom half of the second frame as Anthony Gose hit his second triple of the season on a sharp line drive to center field, scoring Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Nick Castellanos gave Detroit a 3-2 lead with a two-run single to center field off A.J. Griffin in the bottom of the third inning.

After the hit by Castellanos, Griffin (3-0, 2.94 ERA) departed from the game with stiffness in his right shoulder. He allowed three runs and four hits in 2.2 innings of work, while walking three and striking out two batters.

"I feel all right," Griffin said. "The shoulder's a little sore right now but had some tightness out there, couldn't get extended and couldn't get the pitches to do what I wanted to do."

The starter threw 53 pitches on Saturday and snapped a streak of 33 starts which he had completed at least five inning, which was the third-longest streak in baseball behind Jake Arrieta of the Chicago Cubs and Madison Bumgarner of the San Francisco Giants

Ian Kinsler opened the lead up to three runs for the Tigers with his two-run shot to left center field. The home run traveled 409 feet and left the bat at 100 miles per hour.

The Rangers (17-14) took back the lead and then some in the top of the sixth inning. Mazara doubled in a run, Adrian Beltre hit a two-run shot to right field and Mitch Moreland played long ball to take a 7-5 lead.

Pelfrey (0-4, 6.23 ERA) allowed five runs on seven hits across 5.0 innings. The 32-year-old struck out three hitters. It was the first time since May 10, 2011 that Pelfrey has given up three home runs in a game. Kyle Ryan gave up the home run to Moreland, so he took the loss.

"I'm embarrassed," Pelfrey said. "These guys gave me a three-run lead in the sixth inning and I couldn't hold it. That's on me. I feel terrible."

In the top of the seventh inning, Beltre hit his second home run in as many innings to take a 9-5 lead over Detroit. It was the fifth homer of the year by the veteran, who hit the ball out at a speed of 106 miles per hour.

"Any time Beltre shows up in a batter's box or baseball field you look for special things to happen," Texas manager Jeff Banister said. "He's monster strong so when he gets the barrel to it, it's loud."

Texas added one more run on a sacrifice fly by Delino DeShields to score former Tigers catcher Bryan Holaday in the top of the ninth inning. Believe it or not, both catchers on the roster of the Rangers, Holaday and Bobby Wilson, were on the Tigers earlier this season.

Anthony Ranaudo got the win and Shawn Tolleson got the final out of the game to earn his 10th save of the season and secure the 10-5 victory for the Rangers.

Miguel Cabrera continued to produce for the Tigers, but his teammates struggled to drive him home. Cabrera went 4-for-5 with a run scored and increased his batting average to .286 with the stellar performance. Meanwhile, Castellanos stayed hot going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a walk. The 24-year-old owns a .376 batting average.

On the other side of the ball, Odor, Mazara and Beltre combined ot go 6-for-13 with four home runs and seven RBI on Saturday against the Tigers.
