One night after the bats went silent at Fenway Park, the boisterous offense of the Boston Red Sox boomed again on Wednesday night, as the most powerful attack in the MLB hung double digits on the Texas Rangers in a dominant 11-6 victory.

Red Sox bats come alive in win

The win sealed the Red Sox's second consecutive series win, the first time they have accomplished such a feat since May 20-26. The Rangers, on the other hand, head home to Texas with their heads bowed following a tumultuous 4-6 road trip.

Boston hammered Rangers left-hander Martin Perez (L, 7-5), slicing him up for 11 runs (seven earned), on nine hits and a pair of walks in four innings, striking out just once. Red Sox starter Steven Wright (W, 10-5) garnered the victory despite allowing six runs (five earned) in six innings of work on nine hits and a walk, striking out a respectable seven batters while wielding his knuckleball.

The Red Sox jumped on Perez immediately, as designated hitter David Ortiz toasted a two-out, full count offering deep over the right field fence for a two-run shot in the first inning. With the home run, Ortiz reached the 20-homer milestone for the 15th consecutive season, the third-highest streak in MLB history.

Texas sliced the deficit in half in the second inning, as right fielder Nomar Mazara (2-for-4, RBI) knocked an RBI single to left-center to score third baseman Adrian Beltre, who reached on an error by Boston second baseman Dustin Pedroia. However, the Red Sox padded their lead in the bottom of the stanza. After center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr. walked, Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor and Beltre committed consecutive errors to load the bases.

Then, catcher Ryan Hanigan, receiving his first at-bat in over a month after returning from the disabled list, sliced a two-run single to right center  to increase the gap to 4-1. This preceded a wall-ball RBI double by right fielder Mookie Betts, who recorded his 38th multi-hit game of the season with a 2-for-5 outing.

Hanigan then came around to score on a misplayed ground ball by Texas shortstop Elvis Andrus, and Betts scored on an RBI sacrifice fly by Ortiz to increase the Red Sox advantage to 7-1.

The scoring barrage continued in the following inning. Bradley Jr. led off the stanza with a double, coming around to score on an RBI single by left fielder Bryce Brentz (2-for-4, three RBI, two runs). On the ensuing at-bat, third baseman Travis Shaw smacked his 26th double of the season, sending Brentz home with the Red Sox's ninth run of the ballgame.

Brentz hammered Perez once again in the fourth inning. After shortstop Xander Bogaerts walked and first baseman Hanley Ramirez doubled to right center, Brentz knocked a two-out, two-run single to right to increase the lead to 11-1.

Texas attempted to mount a comeback against Wright, but it was a matter of too little too late. Designated hitter Prince Fielder smacked his eight home run of the season in the sixth inning, a two-run shot to right, before second baseman Ian Desmond roped a two-RBI triple off of the center field fence in the seventh inning, scoring on an RBI single by left fielder Jared Hoying

The Rangers lessened the deficit to 11-6, however, Red Sox relievers Tommy Layne, Matt Barnes, and Craig Kimbrel combined to toss three innings of one-hit ball to seal the triumph.
