After falling behind 2-0 in the second inning, the Glendale Desert Dogs came back and scored nine consecutive runs to top the Mesa Solar Sox by a score of 9-3.

Glendale's starting pitcher Zach Davies had a rough outing on Tuesday. The 21-year-old right-handed pitcher of the Baltimore Orioles' organization lasted just 1 2/3 innings and surrendered two runs on a hit and three walks. He faced just eleven batters and threw 36 pitches -- 20 for strikes. After he walked two consecutive batters with two outs in the top of the second inning, he was relieved by Chicago White Sox right-handed pitcher Chris Bassitt. Bassitt allowed Mesa to score the first two runs of the game in the top of the second inning, courtesy of a two-out two-RBI single off the bat of Chicago Cubs' infielder Addison Russell. Although Bassitt was on the mound when the runs were surrendered, both runs scored by Mesa were charged to Davies.

Glendale answered back in the bottom of the third inning as Baltimore Orioles' first baseman Jason Esposito launched a solo home run to left field to cut the lead in half. Dodgers' second baseman Darnell Sweeney tied the game later in the inning by driving in Milwaukee Brewers' outfielder Tyron Taylor. The Desert Dogs took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Chicago White Sox catcher Kevan Smith hit an RBI-double to give Glendale a 3-2 lead.

The Desert Dogs tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning as Detroit Tigers' outfielder hit a two-RBI double. Moya scored on a groundout off the bat of Baltimore Orioles' outfielder Garabez Mosa to stretch Glendale's lead to 6-2.

Milwaukee Brewers' first baseman Nick Ramirez launched a solo homer to right field with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning and Dodgers' infielder Corey Seager and Tigers' outfielder Steven Moya both drove in a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to cap off a great offensive showing for the Desert Dogs.

Glendale's offense was lead by Detroit Tigers' outfielder Steven Moya, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI in Tuesday's contest, and Milwaukee Brewers' first baseman Nick Ramirez, who went 2-for-4 with a solo homer.

The Desert Dogs' relievers were lights out on Tuesday. Bassitt tossed 2 1/3 innings and allowed two hits while picking up three strikeouts. Right-handers Parker Bridwell of the Baltimore Orioles (two innings pitched, one strikeout), Brooks Hall of the Milwaukee Brewers (one inning pitched) and Zach Reininger of the Detroit Tigers (one inning pitched) all had perfect outings. Left-hander Joe Mantiply of the Tigers pitched the top of the ninth inning for Glendale and surrendered a run on a hit and a walk.

Mesa's pitching staff was a completely different story as every pitcher that took the mound for the Solar Sox in Tuesday's game surrendered at least one run. Left-hander Felipe Rivero of the Washington Nationals got the start for Mesa and gave up four runs on seven hits and two walks in four innings pitched. He was relieved by fellow southpaw Matt Grace, who is also a member of the Nationals' organization. Grace hurled one inning and surrendered two runs on two hits and a walk. The trend of Nationals' pitchers continued as Derek Self took the mound in relief of Grace. Self tossed two innings and surrendered a run on a walk and two hits -- including a solo homer. Self's outing was by far the best of the Solar Sox's pitching staff on Tuesday. Self was relieved by Los Angeles Angels right-hander Matt Sappington, who allowed two runs on three hits in his lone inning of work.

Mesa and Glendale will play each other again on Wednesday as Mesa will send left-hander Sean Nolin of the Toronto Blue Jays to the mound to oppose Los Angeles Dodgers' right-hander Matt Magill. First pitch for Wednesday's game is scheduled for 2:35 pm EST.
