On Thursday, the mixed martial arts community received an announcement that caused the forums and social media outlets to implode. Back in November, the Bellator MMA promotion announced they had signed former UFC Fighter and YouTube sensation Kimbo Slice. We have been waiting since then to see who Coker will line him up against and we now have that man. It wasn't Kimbo’s name that gave questions marks to the entire mma landscape it’s his opponent Ken Shamrock! Yes the living legend himself will make his Bellator debut in St. Louis Mo on June 20th at the Scottrade Center.

This is a fight that should have happen back in 2008 but a pre-fight warm up cut to Shamrock cancelled the matchup. So now seven years later we have the fight and both fighters could not be happier. Once again as we continue to reiterate this has Scott Coker’s name all over it. He promised that he will deliver on some fun fan favorite fights and he is clearly doing that.

For those that are skeptical on how the show will do just take a glance back to the insane numbers the November show reached and it will give you an idea. Hopefully the rest of the card will mimic something similar to that one with at least one title fight on there.

A June card allows for time some of their recent and upcoming competitors to be on this card. It is possible that tonight’s British Invasion event could showcase a fighter or two in June. Hopefully we will also see more on the women’s featherweight division but announcements should be on the way soon.

As mentioned earlier both fighters are geared up for this long awaited match up and even in the twilight of his career Shamrock feels he is in better condition than ever.  "I am back," Shamrock said. "It's good to be performing again for my fans. I feel great, and my health is great. Age should never be a factor if an athlete is healthy, in great shape, and has the drive to continue their sport. I will quit fighting when I want to." Both fighters feel they have some unfinished business with each other and should lead to some interesting build up until June.
