Mayweather's Legacy On Line In Pacquiao Fight?

May 2nd is going to be a big day in the career of both Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. However, Mayweather is the one with more to lose should he not win the fight.

A Pacquiao defeat would not be as surprising as Mayweather losing his perfect record. Floyd already has critics who believe he is only undefeated due to the weak level of his opponents. This is why this fight is a must win for his legacy. If he can't pull off the win many will say he cannot be considered among the all time greats of the sport.

Another reason Mayweather will be determined to come away with the victory is that he wants to break the historic record of 49-0 set by the great Rocky Marciano. Mayweather is only 47-0 at this point in his career and a win would put him only two victories away from breaking the record. That record would surely cement Mayweather's place in the history books ,even with the weak level of his opponents, no one can argue with a record of 50-0. 

Floyd also has to prove all his doubters wrong who believe he was running from Pacquiao for all these years and what better way to do that than by beating Pacquiao in the ring.

This will be the fight of the century for all of us but it will also be the biggest fight of Mayweather's career and it will be fun to watch after all these years of hype to see if the fight lives up to all the talk. Many observers are now saying this fight missed the window for it to be  great but on May 2nd we will see if that is the case. Mayweather has been in tough spots before in his career and he has always found a way to come out on top so we will see if he can do it once again.
