The St. Paul Saints offense had another big night after scoring eight runs Thursday night. They scored nine runs Friday night in defeating the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 9-2. The Saints were led by Angelo Songco, who had four runs batted in, and by Ian Gac, who had two hits and two runs batted in to continue his hot start to the season.

The Saints struck first in the third inning when they got two runs thanks to Gac's double. Fargo got on the board for their only run in the fourth when Joe Staley hit a single to score Frank Solerno from second base. That was all Fargo would get as they were shut down by the Saints' pitching staff, led by a magnificent performance by starter Dustin Crenshaw, who went six innings, giving up only three hits and one run.

Fargo's pitching staff, meanwhile, had some issues for the second night in a row as it gave up nine runs on ten hits. Starter Tyler Herron got shelled as he gave up four earned runs on five hits in five innings of work. Randy Henry came in to relieve him, but he fared no better as he gave up four more runs on four hits. Paul Raglione came in to try to stop the bleeding and succeeded by throwing a scoreless seventh inning.

The teams traded zeroes early with Fargo not getting a hit until the fourth when they scored their only run. After the offensive explosion in the middle innings, the teams went back to trading zeroes until Chris Duffy hit a double in the ninth to make it a 9-2 ballgame. However, Fargo could not get any other runs as the final score was 9-2 in favor of the Saints. The Saints improved to 2-0 on the season while Fargo drops to 0-2. The teams will play again on Saturday at 7:05 CT.
