The WWE is at a crossroads. They need a Chief Operating Officer for SmackDown and Monday Night Raw ahead of the upcoming brand split but none of the returning former General Managers look like the people for the job.

Ratings are down too, which means Vince McMahon starts to do his best to get them back up. That usually means that he makes an appearance on WWE television.

An appearance from the chairman of the board usually means that something big is on the cards and with the WWE hitting one of it’s biggest ever weeks, an appearance by Vince is desperately needed.

The WWE universe needs information about the COOs for Monday Night Raw and SmackDown. They’ll be looking to Vince to deliver that.

In a statement provided by WWE.com, the WWE is building Vince’s return by saying: “After weeks of a huge power struggle for control of SmackDown Live, WWE’s Chairman returns to Monday Night Raw. Will Mr. McMahon weigh in on the recent battle between Stephanie and Shane McMahon? Or does he have a different COO in mind for the blue brand’s latest chapter?”

It's clearly a tease by the WWE to draw in viewers but the WWE universe will also draw conclusions as Monday night approaches.

The potential to name the new COO’s

With the WWE Brand Split only a few days away, it’s likely that this appearance by Vince is to name the COOs for SmackDown and Monday Night Raw.

There have been a number of names rumoured, including Shane and Stephanie McMahon but outside names have also been mentioned.

One hypothetical idea has surrounded Triple H. The Game hasn’t been seen since WrestleMania so could this be his big return? Could he bring his NXT talent to SmackDown or Monday Night Raw? We’ll have to tune into Monday Night Raw to find out.

Who could they be?

Since the brand split was announced, It has been rumoured that Stephanie and Shane McMahon will each take charge of a brand, but the statement on WWE.com has caused some intrigue.

If the WWE are teasing a different name for the COO slot, could we see the return of Eric Bischoff? While that is unlikely, he’s a different face on WWE television and most importantly, he’s not a McMahon.

Another potential name mentioned has been that of Vince himself. With ratings down, Vince usually appears on WWE television, so not have him on TV regularly while the WWE splits the brands?

It’s going to be interesting either way.
