The Cruiserweight Classic kicked off in style, in the opening episode four men prevailed and four went home, and the victors open up about their historic wins.

Speaking directly to WWE the men who had their hand raised after the final bell spoke about what their win means to them and their hopes for the future.

The American and former Ring of Honor star, defeated Frenchman Clement Petiot in a stand out match to really set the tone of just how good the competitors in the tournament are. 

On his victory, the 26-year-old said it means "the world" and more as he progressed into the second round but plans to take things further.

He said, "This win means the world and then some. The last seven years of my life I have just been a lot of ups and a whole lot of downs and the win,[in} WWE I did it, I did it for my family, I did it for my fiancé, for my daughter, my mom, my brother, my niece, they watched me succeed on the big stage."

On what the audience can expect from the Queen City's Favorite Son in the remaining matches in the competition, he laid out his intentions as he wants to be the first man to win the entire tournament.

He said, "I can on taking this further than just this first win I want to take it to the finals and be the winner of the very first Cruiserweight Classic."

Gran Metalik is excited to represent Mexico

Gran Metalik was a happy Luchador following his opening match victory against Chilean Alejandro Saez, and says he is "excited" and "happy" to represent his home nation.

He said, "I Feel very happy, very excited because I'm representing Mexico and I did all those spectacular moves to show what Gran Metalik can do in the squared circle."

The Mexican recently put pen to paper on a deal with the WWE to become a part of the NXT roster and has set a precedent for more performers in the tournament to follow.

Ho Ho Lun thanks the world

The man from Hong Kong has been on an extraordinary journey in his short life, he set up the first ever wrestling school in his homeland and has taken another step in the right direction following a victory over Ariya Daivari.

Despite being on the back foot for the majority of the match he was able to eventually get the win and see off the Iranian representative and eventually have his hand raised by the official and for this, he was "thankful."

He said, "It is very unbelievable, I have won in WWE Cruiserweight Classic first round match, I will see you again in second round match, thank you all my friends in China and all around the world, thank you."

Kota Ibushi is a man of few words but following his stand out performance against Sean Maluta it is clear his actions say a whole lot more.

In the closing match of the opening episode, he showed the world what he can do and the world has already taken notice as he recently signed a deal with WWE to perform for NXT.

He said (accompanied by a translator) "I have wrestled all over the world but I have never wrestled in front of the world."
