Battleground takes place this Sunday and will be the last 'B' PPV to feature the full roster as that will be exclusive to the 'Big Four' shows from now on following the brand split, making this a historic event. The card is strong and, for the most part, has been built and developed well for fans to be interested heading into the show, so let's take a look at each match and see who this writer is picking to walk away with the win at Battleground.

Becky Lynch - Natalya

How refreshing is it to see a woman's match on a PPV that isn't featured around the championship. Despite all the publicity and promotion of the women's division, the WWE has failed to create more than just one storyline at a time, meaning those not involved in the title picture have just been sat around waiting, that is until this feud began.

The rivalry began with Natalya taking out her frustrations at being unable to capture the Women's Championship or simply defeat Charlotte on Becky Lynch, which continued her story that all of her friends have turned on her since moving to the main roster. Ever since then the pair of them have been at odds, brawling all around the ring and it all comes to a head at Battleground.

With both Carmella and Alexa Bliss being called up to SmackDown this could be the end of the feud as the more experienced women could be used to work with the newer stars to show them the ropes. Whether that is the case or not the result should be the same and that is with Lynch going over. She was hailed as the best female wrestler in the company by Daniel Bryan as they made her their first female pick, to back that statement she needs to pick up a win here and prove she can be the female face of the blue brand.

Prediction: Becky Lynch

United States Championship Match: Rusev (c) w. Lana - Zack Ryder

This is one of the feuds that has lacked much focus leading into Battleground and is one that doesn't make much sense considering the fact Zack Ryder was beaten within three minutes before Rusev accepted his challenge to a title match, but his ressuragance since WrestleMania has been welcomed and is necessary during the brand split.

Rusev has been dominating everyone in his path since he picked up the title against Kalisto and has began to restore some respect back in the belt, just like he did during his first run with the belt. The story is that Rusev is a foreign force to be reckoned with and will destroy anybody in his path, especially against American superstars.

Ryder on the other hand has been trying to use his underdog spirit to pick up the championship and put it back in American hands. It is interesting to note that both men will be on different brands following Battleground and that is likely going to play a factor in this match.

The right decision would be to have Rusev defend in another dominant performance before he heads to Raw, this keeps the title strong and continues his well earned push following his split from the League of Nations. Ryder is likely set to move into tag team action next with Mojo Rawley being promoted from NXT so him not winning wont be the end of his push either.

Prediction: Rusev

Intercontinental Championship Match: The Miz (c) w. Maryse - Darren Young w. Bob Backlund

Similarly to the United States Championship match, this one has lacked long term booking and has been quite quickly thrown together but the way the fans have taken to Darren Young after so many poor backstage videos has taken everyone by surprise, yet the gimmick is working.

However, just like the United States Championship match both these competitors have been split onto different rosters which is likely to effect the outcome of this match. With SmackDown lacking in championships whilst Raw boasts the US, Women's and Tag Team gold and potentially taking the WWE Championship, it is unlikely that they will lose this belt too.

That means that The Miz is likely to walk away having defended his belt which is a shame for Young whose momentum would only continue if he picked up the title here. Hopefully WWE creates a way for him to lose but not appear too weak in doing so whilst The Miz continues his impressive run.

Prediction: The Miz

The Wyatt Family - New Day

This has been very well built up heading into this showdown (minus the terrible Final Deletion attempt) and has plenty of intrigue which has only been intensified by the fact that the Wyatt Family have been split up by the draft.

The Wyatt's are out to prove that the power of positivity doesn't exist whilst the Tag Team Champions are hoping to prove the opposite, it's been built well and the added story that Xavier Woods is scared of Bray Wyatt is sure to play a factor going into this one. Even though Battleground could prove the place where he overcomes his fear it will likely not be enough to help his team get the win.

With Bray moving over to SmackDown he is likely to be positioned as one of the shows top heels, being placed in the main event picture. For this to happen it would be beneficial for him to win his first feud since returning from injury, especially considering how many he ended up losing last year.

The New Day don't have the titles on the line so that doesn't play a factor here and a defeat doesn't hurt them too much as it can then be a factor in their next feud with the belt on the line.

Prediction: Wyatt Family

Charlotte and Dana Brooke - Sasha Banks and a mystery partner

Another feud that has been built and developed well ahead of the PPV, Sasha Banks has made it clear she wants the Women's Championship and is prepared to do anything to get it, and to do that she is going to have to go through Charlotte and Dana Brooke

The subject of who Banks' partner will be is likely going to be the central focus for most fans, instead of the great storytelling that has been happening but there are plenty of options for who it will be. Bayley is the person that most fans want to see and this seems like a logical time to move her up, however other options include; Paige, Naomi, Nikki Bella and potentially Nia Jax. They all have obvious reasons to help Banks, with the Paige and Naomi in a desperate need for a resurgence in their careers, whilst Nikki would simply be making a return straight back into the top level which is what Jax would be doing, but debuting instead of returning.

Either way, Banks and her partner should be walking away with the victory which will allow the Boss to head into a championship match at SummerSlam

Prediction: Sasha Banks and her mystery opponent.

Chris Jericho's 'Highlight Reel' with Randy Orton

This is going to be an interesting segment on the show, with Randy Orton making his return to hype his match with Brock Lesnar. However, given the recent drugs scandal regarding Lesnar it will be interesting to see whether or not they bring it up as they did with Roman Reigns' situation.

It is unlikely they will as it appears they are ignoring the results from his USADA tests as he hasn't failed any WWE Wellness policy's but it would certainly help Randy Orton be a more serious contender in the match. This one will be a simple segment though which will likely end with an RKO to Y2J to pop the crowd.

John Cena, Enzo Amore and Big Cass - The Club

Another huge match on the card which is very tough to predict considering that everyone involved is going in different directions following the show thanks to the brand split, but the central focus of John Cena and AJ Styles will continue on SmackDown.

Considering that The Club got the upper hand at Money in the Bank and the fact they are breaking up, it is likely the faces will walk away with the win which continues the WWE's push of Big Cass and means that Cena and Styles can have a final match at the Biggest Party of the Summer

Prediction: Cena, Enzo, and Big Cass

Kevin Owens - Sami Zayn

The feud that fans could see last forever could very well happen now after both men were drafted to Monday Night Raw. This rivalry has been going on ever since Kevin Owens debuted in NXT and is one that will likely last for years to come on and off but the WWE have been promoting this one as the final battle between the former friends.

Whilst it certainly will not be that, it could be the last in a while. Sami Zayn has struggled to get the upper hand through the majority of this feud in major singles matches and with him being picked ahead of KO this could be the perfect time for him to get that victory over his major rival, allowing him to move onto other things on the main roster.

Regardless of the result the WWE Universe is going to be in for a treat with this match, which could easily steal the show if they are given the right amount of time.

Prediction: Sami Zayn

WWE Championship Match: Dean Ambrose (c) - Seth Rollins - Roman Reigns

The Shield triple threat that fans have been asking for ever since the stable split up is finally taking place here at Battleground and is one of the toughest to predict on the card, especially following the draft. With Dean Ambrose on SmackDown and his opponents both on Raw it is a match that has more importance than just who is the champion, as both brands want to have the main title.

This match will see the return of Roman Reigns after his month long suspension and his inclusion in the match is what makes it tough to predict. Despite walking in as WWE Champion it is tough to see Ambrose walking away with the belt, especially after such a strong showing on SmackDown as the WWE usually books people who are losing in that manner.

This writer expects one of the two Raw superstars to take the title but the question is which? If the WWE has given up on Reigns then it is very unlikely he will be given the belt so quickly and considering how strong Seth Rollins has been booked since his return and the fact he was the number one draft pick shows the company has faith in 'the man' and this writer believes he will finally get the belt that he never really lost.

Prediction: Seth Rollins

Overall this has the potential to be a strong show if the matches deliver and with the brand split there are plenty of outcomes that could cause some shocks and shake up the way the company is being built currently. It should be a fun show, let's hope the WWE delivers.
