The finale Monday Night Raw before SummerSlam almost did not happen as the American Bank Center where the show was taking place lost power.

The arena was struck by lightening causing the power outage but the technicians behind the scenes worked tirelessly to make sure the show continued as planned.

Perhaps it was someone up above looking out for the red brand, as cancelling the show maybe would not have been such a bad idea but nevertheless there were still many things to learn, and here are the top five.

Heath Slater will not give up

Heath Slater was foolish enough to challenge Brock Lesnar to a match (image: twitter)

You know that Raw was lackluster when Heath Slater, a man not currently assigned to either brand was the highlight of the show.

Paul Heyman was talking up his client Brock Lesnar when, the former Social Outcast member interrupted him, just when a beat-down was expected, it was thankfully delayed.

Slater cut a clear promo, requesting a match against The Beast where if he wins he is handed a Raw contract, something that his Advocate quickly refused.

However, the One Man Band persisted and demanded a match as he talked about people his "two little girls" as well all his "other kids" and something shocking followed.

Lesnar grabbed the microphone from Heyman and seemed to understand and sympathise with the predicament of Slater, shocking the Corpus Christi crowd, before going back to the ruthless man, we know him to be as he said "I do not give a s**t about your kids."

The Texas crowd were stunned and the father of two was angered, and so he foolishly tried to attack The Conqueror but was met with a clothesline, followed by a quick trip to Suplex City and then an F5 for good measure.

Best of seven series

Mick Foley gets in the middle of Cesaro and Sheamus' confrontation (image: twitter)

It seems that Mick Foley is developing a fetish of sorts for seeing Cesaro take on Sheamus, so much so he requested a 'Best of Seven Series' between the two men, starting at SummerSlam.

The Celtic Warrior cost The Swiss Superman his shot at the United States Title against Rusev last week and the former Tag-team champion returned the favor as he helped Sami Zayn score a pin-fall victory over the Irishman this week.

Both men hate each-other and looked to continue their battle backstage forcing Foley to schedule their match, with the 'Best of Seven Series' absent for such a long time it makes this nothing feud seem a whole lot more special.

Whether or not the match is relegated to the pre-show remains to be seen but it would be one hell of a match if it was.

We have met The Demon King

Seth Rollins stares into the eyes of The Demon King (image: twitter)

If you were waiting for Finn Balor's dramatic entrance on a huge stage such as SummerSlam, then you have been seriously misled, as The Demon King debuted in full face-paint on Monday Night Raw.

Despite the introduction being one of the most epic in WWE today, it seemed to be wasted as it was only used for intimidation towards Seth Rollins as the two eventually came to blow in the middle of the ring.

Balor got the better of The Man, who should have a much better idea of what he is up against and begs the question over whether the Irishman's push is about to be taken away.

The 50-50 booking that exists in WWE has been heavily favored towards The Demon King, making a Rollins victory at SummerSlam for the Universal Championship much more likely.

The New Day save their nuts

The Club continue to dress up as doctors looking for the cause of ring-postitis (image: twitter)

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson continued their 'Doctor' gimmick but this week they micro-waved an egg, to show their progression of experiments.

They said they were after more samples for testing regarding the recent epidemic of Ring-Postitis, but they were not going to get any luck with The New Day who defeated The Dudley Boyz with ease.

Later in the night The Club defeated The Golden Truth in dominant fashion and were then ambushed by Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods who looked to dish out some punishment of their own.

But Anderson's sensitive parts would be saved by Gallows who pulled him from the ring, all four men have shown they have the grapefruits, but who will have the tag-team titles come Sunday?

Roman versus Rusev: an inevitability?

Reigns broke Rusev's Accolade, can he do it again this Sunday? (image: twitter)

This week's show kicked off with Rusev claiming he would not leave the ring unless he received an apology for Roman Reigns, which then forced Raw General Manager Mick Foley and Commissioner Stephanie McMahon to intervene.

The Bulgarian Brute disrespected both authority figures before Reigns made his way to the ring, saying he was "sorry" but for embarrassing his wife last week but for "the website that Rusev got Lana from."

That is not borderline racist by any means, however Rusev demanded a match later than night for his "wife's honor" which he received, which considering their U.S. Title match is taking place in six days is a little strange.

The Champion took his opportunity and attacked The Guy backstage, injuring him, but the match still took place and despite the new Husband of Lana taking control throughout most of the match it was Reigns who had his arm raised at the end of the match.

Unfortunately this begs the question; if an injured Roman Reigns can defeat Rusev while also breaking out of the Accolade, then what chance does The Bulgarian Brute have of walking out of Brooklyn with his title against the fully recovered former Shield member?

Other notable moments

Jericho and Owens are showing strong signs of dominance (image: twitter)

While this week's Raw did lack in quality it did feature a lot of content, so much so that it was impossible to cram it all down between five things, so other notable moments that happened were.

Titus O'Neil delivers a Clash of the Titus to Darren Young, despite the two teaming up for a "One Night Only" match against The Shining Stars, the two are at war now and are likely to settle their differences at SummerSlam (pre-show).

Jon Stewart will be at SummerSlam, according to Mick Foley who excitedly delivered the news to an equally ecstatic Stephanie McMahon backstage. The former host of The Daily Show cost John Cena his United States title and his shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Title at last year's show.

Charlotte has the momentum heading into her rematch for the WWE Women's Championship against Sasha Banks as after defeating Alicia Fox in quick fashion, she asked The Boss to come get a taste of what is in store this Sunday, but an ambush by Dana Brooke gave The Nature Girl an easy target as she locked in the figure eight.

Nia Jax continued her domination in squash matches as she took on a pint sized female that was "looking to take home the gold" but after the beating that the former NXT star delivered, she was lucky to be able to walk home.

JeriK.O. are closer than ever, as the two Canadians teamed up (technically) to take out both Enzo and Cass. Kevin Owens went one-on-one against Big Cass but Chris Jericho distracted the big man as he took out The Certified G who was at ringside before taking out the seven foot tall man, as The Prizefighter also delivered some punishment ahead of their tag-team match this Sunday.
