#2 Ma Long beat seed #7 Dimitrij Ovtcharov by 13-11, 11-8, 9-11, 9-11, 11-7, 5-11, 11-9. The match lasted one hour and 25 minutes
 

Experienced, 32-year-old Ma Long is ranked number two in the ITTF world ranking. Known as Fat Dragon, he has great quality in the serve, and has won three gold medals: London 2012 (teams) and two in Rio 2016 (teams and individual). 

#1 Fan Zhendong defeated #5 seed Lin Yun Ju (6-11, 11-9, 14-12, 13-15, 11-9, 9-11, 11-8) in a marathon that lasted an hour and a quarter. 

Fan Zhendong, 24, is ranked number one in the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) world rankings. With a defensive style, he seeks to attack in the mode (racket from the bottom up and make the ball fall quickly).

Mandatory, the ball must bounce on the server's table and then on the opponent's table. Points are lost on the following criteria:
- Touching the table
- Passing the ball directly to the opponent's side, without it touching the table
- Sending the ball into the net
- Speaking or shouting during the game
- Playing the ball too high or too low when serving

Table tennis, or the famous ping-pong, was created in the United Kingdom. The sport is considered to be the fastest ball sport in the world.  

Fan Zhendong vs Ma Long live face off this Friday (30) at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium at 8am ET for the Olympic Games. The confrontation is valid for the final of the competition.
