With Tokyo 2020, it is the sixth time that baseball is present at the Olympic Games; South Korea -who is also the most recent champion of this discipline- will seek to advance to its second final, while the USA will also try to reach this round for the second time.

The South Korea team placed second in their group, so they had to play Round 1, where they defeated the Dominican Republic 4-3. Later, in the Semifinals they were defeated 2-5 by Japan, so they have another opportunity in this same phase to advance to the final.

The USA team came in first place in the first sector, advancing directly to Round 2, where it was defeated 6-7 by Japan. Then, to reach this stage, they defeated the Dominican Republic 3-1 in the playoffs, so they are keeping alive their hopes of getting into the top two places in the competition.
