Etna
We remember the terrible eruption of 1669, which originated the Monti Rossi, reaching the city of Catania and the sea, and the subsequent lava flows of 1776 and 1886. Despite the damage caused by the numerous lava flows and earthquakes, the city was able to re-emerge and offer visitors its extraordinary natural beauty and its modern services, hotel facilities and typical restaurants, becoming a boast of the Etna area, to the point that it has earned the nickname "Porta dell'Etna" (Etna's Gate).
The healthy, mild climate, even in summer, and the lush pine trees make it a lovely place to stay. Throughout the year, Nicolosi organizes shows and events that attract a multitude of visitors. A pleasant vacation resort, the town has linked its name to tourism and excursions to Mount Etna. Today, thanks to the will and initiative of its administrators and inhabitants, it is a driving force for tourism in the Etna area.
Avola
The tourism boom is recorded in the summer months along with the summer program of events that, between tradition and innovation, includes important religious, cultural, musical, sporting and gastronomic festivals that involve the entire city.
From the large Piazza Umberto I, formerly Piazza Maggiore, in the famous hexagonal historic center, begin the Baroque "streets" that lead to the spectacular oriented nature reserves of Cava Grande del Cassibile and Vendicari.
The Ionian coast, where Avola is located, has soft, golden beaches, freely accessible or equipped with bathing facilities, alternating with enchanting cliffs. During the long, hot Sicilian summer, you can enjoy the clear blue sea and the most pleasant water sports.
Altimetry
