🕵🏼 Breakaway riders profile - Mirco Maestri

Born in Emilia in 1991, he is the most experienced of the breakaway riders. A good finisseur, Mirco is a regular in the breakaways, as well as being a great domestique. In his career he has won some minor races such as the International Tour of Rhodes, GP Slovenia and a stage of the Tour of China. He also won the points classification jersey at the 2019 Tirreno-Adriatico.

🕵🏼 Breakaway riders profile - Lorenzo Quartucci

Born in 1999, Tuscan, he turned professional last year after many years of apprenticeship. His first approaches with the pros were positive, he finished 6th in the Giro della Provincia di Reggio Calabria and, above all, 4th in the Italian championship won by Velasco. At the end of August, he won the Muur Classic Geraardsbergen in Flanders, a 1.2 category race. This is his second breakaway at this Tirreno-Adriatico.

🕵🏼 Breakaway riders profile - Jonas Abrahamsen

A Norwegian born in 1995, he raced as an amateur until the age of 21, when he was spotted by Uno-X after winning the Etape du Tour de France, a cycling gran fondo that is raced every year in France. From the Devo team he turned professional in 2021 and in 2023 he made his debut in the actual Tour de France, even coming close to a stage win in Bourg-en-Bresse, where he finished 3rd when Kasper Asgreen won. He is a fast finisseur.

🕵🏼 Breakaway riders profile - Alexander Kamp

Danish, born in 1993, he is the most winning rider in the breakaway, as in addition to a double Danish title in road races, he also won a stage in the Tour of Norway, one in the Tour of Yorkshire and last year’s general classification in the Région Pays de la Loire Tour. Gifted with a good fast sprint, in 2022 he finished 3rd in the WorldTour Bretagne Classic, which was won by Wout Van Aert.

🕵🏼 Breakaway riders profile - Davide Bais

Born in Trentino in 1998, he made headlines thanks to his success at last year’s Giro d’Italia, in the prestigious Gran Sasso d’Italia stage. He’s not strictly a climber, but can defend himself just about anywhere, being an excellent team player when needed and a good attacker when the race needs to be animated. Last year at Tirreno he finished 2nd in the climbers’ classification, this year he is aiming to take home the Maglia Verde.

🕵🏼 Breakaway riders profile - Alex Tolio

The VF-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè Group rider was born in Veneto in 2000. He is a rider who adapts to hard routes. He is not gifted with a great sprint, which forces him to try to go solo if he wants to win. He has been a Pro since 2022 and his good performances convinced Reverberi to sign him to a contract until 2026. He was also winner of the Strade Bianche di Romagna among the U23s, he dreams of winning the Strade Bianche di Siena.

🏁 51,4 km to go

Mark Cavendish has been suffering during the day. The sprinter has been trying to endure for several kilometers the difficulty of the course, which has had constant steep climbs on the way to the finish line.

🏁 55 km to go

The rythm of the day did not change much. The peloton has increased it and as a result the time reduction. The leaders are trying to maintain the cadence, but those behind are working hard. 2'56" separate them now.

🏁 60 km to go

The breakaway's lead over the peloton has been considerably reduced and is now just over three minutes.

💨 Breakaway of the day

The riders who have decided to break away are: Lorenzo Quartucci (Corratec-Vini Fantini), Davide Bais, Mirco Maestri (Polti-Kometa), Alexander Kamp (Tudor), Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno-X Mobility) and Alex Tolio (VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè).

Carreer status

There are 70 kilometers to go until the end of the stage. There is a group of six riders in the lead with a 4'43" advantage over the peloton. The only mountain stage of the day has already been disputed and we only have the intermediate sprint, located 14 kilometers from the finish line.

Giulianova

Giulianova, the ‘Posillipo degli Abruzzi’, encapsulates hospitality, history, art, landscape, spirituality, taste and the scent of the sea and green hills. Tourist accommodation is among the largest and most important in Abruzzo, as it offers hotels, campsites, and tourist villages within the reach of children in particular. Families find their safety and peace of mind on the flat, sandy beach.

Arrone

Arrone is a medieval village, surrounded by the nature of the Nera River Park, located in the province of Terni, not far from the Marmore Falls. Its origins are ancient; it is said that the name probably comes from the noble Arroni family who, at the end of the 9th century, founded the small village. Arrone is included in the circuit of the “Most Beautiful Villages in Italy” and can be considered the home of nature-based sports. Trekking, climbing, canoeing, rafting, mountain biking, and horse riding are popular activities. Finally, one can experience unique emotions by traversing from tree to tree safely in the Adventure Park of Rosciano. A characteristic event is the Feast of the Patron Saint, Saint Giovanni Battista, featuring acrobatic bell ringing, a rarity in Italy.

Route of the stage

The fourth day of the Tirreno-Adriatico will once again put a strain on the legs of the riders looking to make a difference in the general classification. It will be another long course, starting from Arrone and climbing the Valico Dicastelluccio just between the first 70 kilometers. After crossing that climb and the ascent in Forca di Presta, there will be a descent of almost 50 kilometers to finish the day with 77 kilometers more, full of some steep climbs and with a slight ascent in the last kilometers to reach the finish line in Giulianova.
