Sønderborg
Sønderborg is located in the southernmost part of Denmark, just a few kilometers from the German border. Its municipal territory is unique and extends over both the island of Als and the Jutland peninsula. The city's port activity has conditioned its development almost as much as its later university vocation. The murals and colorful houses that brighten up the streets are also a lure for tourists. Former Danish world champion Mads Pedersen won the second stage of the last Tour of Denmark here.
Vejle
On its third day in Denmark, the Tour will travel through the continental part of the country, consisting of the Jutland peninsula. The city of Vejle is named after the fjord that overlooks it and has long been well known for its textile industry, earning it the nickname "the Danish Manchester". Sports fans may know it best for Vejle BK, five-time Danish soccer league champions and the team where Allan Simonsen, Golden Ball winner in 1977, was trained. His attachment to the club brought him back to the team at the end of his career after spells with Borussia Mönchengladbach and FC Barcelona.
Route of the stage
The third day of the Tour de France, after the shock of the second stage, is not to be overconfident. The last day in Denmark will be 182 kilometers long, starting from Vejle, where three fourth category mountain passes will be crossed: the Côte de Koldingve, the Côte de Hejlsminde Strand and the Côte de Genner Strand. The intermediate sprint will take place in Christiansfeld at 90.5 km and the finish line will be in Sonderborg.

Summary of the previous stage
It was an eventful stage, where perhaps more movement was expected than there was, since for the first time, the peloton faced the passage through the Great Belt Bridge. However, in a very close final sprint, it was Fabio Jakobsen who would end up winning and beating Wout Van Aert, who became the new leader of the Tour.
