Canada Players to Watch

We have to pay attention to these three players, they are very important for the team and Thursday's victory depends on them. First, forward Dalano Banton (#45), was the player of the game against Colombia, getting 19.3 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. He is the leading scorer on the team and his offensive presence is very important for Canada. Another player is point guard Trae Bell-Haynes (#2) who plays for KK Buducnost Voli and is the team's second-highest rebounder. Last game he had 11.7 points, 5 rebounds and 1.7 assists. Finally, power forward Thomas Kennedy (#54) who is the team's second-highest assister and averages 6.3 points and 3.3 rebounds. He will be very important defensively and we have to keep an eye on him.

Canada in the tournament

Like Mexico, Canada finished second in Group A and started the tournament very well by earning their first two wins. At the moment they are in the quarterfinals and their goal is to beat Mexico in Thursday's game to advance to the semifinals. Their last game was against Colombia, the match was won by Canada 62-61 and thus they secured second place in their group. They arrive as the least favorites to win this game, however they could surprise the tournament and defeat Mexico on Thursday.

Mexico players to watch

Aguascalientes Panthers player Fabian Jaimes (#3), the Mexican, plays as Small Wing. During the first two games of the tournament he has managed 14 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, this makes him the team's top scorer. He is one of the most important players in Mexico and is responsible for leading the team to the next phase of the tournament. Point guard Paul Stoll (#4), plays with Fuerza Regia and is the team's biggest assister in the tournament. He is averaging 7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game. It will be very important for Mexico to win on Thursday. Finally, forward Daniel Amigo (#44), plays for Libertadores de Queretaro and will be very important to get rebounds in the game. Per game he gets 12.3 points, 0.7 assists and 6 rebounds, this makes him the team's top rebounder. The three players are considered key to Mexico's offensive attack and the responsibility of the team falls on them.

Mexico in the tournament

The Mexican team is in Group C with Venezuela, Panama and the United States. They advanced to the quarterfinals by placing second in the group. He started the tournament very well by winning his first two matches, he is expected to maintain his level and advance to the next phase. Their last game resulted in a loss against Venezuela, the Mexican national basketball team lost 80 to 74 points and thus Mexico took second place in the group. They arrive as favorites to win the game because of the good team they have and the good time they are going through.

FIBA AmeriCup

It is also known as the Americas Cup or the FIBA Americas Cup, it is an official international championship that is played between the national teams of the American continent of FIBA. It is endorsed by FIBA and takes place every 4 years. The last champion was the United States, on September 3, 2017 they faced Argentina and the US team ended up winning 81 to 76 points. The AmeriCup grants seven seats for the 2023 Pan American Games to be played in Chile.

The Ginásio de Esportes Geraldo Magalhães will host the AmeriCup, it is located in Recife, Brazil. It opened in 1970 and has a capacity of 15,000 spectators. The gym hosts indoor sporting events such as basketball and volleyball.
