Fans have been raving about a possible return of the hit series Xena Warrior Princess. Nothing has been said about the return of the show being in development. The excitement from fans was brought on when word reached social media that the lead star, Lucy Lawless, has shared her interest if a reboot of the show were to happen. Of course there is a situation with who owns the rights to the show now, but Lawless has expressed that she wants to do the show again and with her former cast members.
The return of Xena would be amazing! Especially for all of the 90’s kids out there who grew up watching the show with their families at the dinner table, like I did. Let’s not forget that if Xena returns then a return of Hercules The Legendary Journeys is can be done as well. Come on, you can’t have Hercules without Xena. Remember, Xena was only made possible because of the success of Hercules. The two shows had several crossovers including an animated film featuring both heroes called Hercules and Xena The Battle for Mount Olympus.
Nothing would please me more than for the two shows to make a return, but can Xena really come back? Xena was a warrior princess fighting throughout the lands of Greece, Rome, and eventually found herself in Japan. The show included so many religious figures, most of whom were killed by Xena herself. What is there left for Xena? Sure she could break up a bandit attack, but after killing the gods of Mount Olympus and turning Elijah’s god, a bandit attack seems so cliché for Xena. Bottom line, there’s nothing left to tell for Xena’s story. The story has to have an end and it did. The fans should realize that the show ran its course. Also, would Xena really be the same if the show didn’t take place in the Mediterranean region?
