When Al Jefferson got hurt early in the fourth quarter, not many people expected the Bobcats to keep it close and only lose 101-97. Though Jefferson continued playing, he was not 100% and that is likely what caused the Bobcats to lose this game. He almost positively could have made a four point difference if healthy. It also didn't help that Charlotte turned the ball over 12 times in the first half, resulting in 18 Miami points. The Heat led 57-47 at the half, thanks in large part to LeBron James' 18 points and the team's 57% field goal percentage.

The second half of the game featured a whole lot of back-and-forth action. No team ever took a lead that was too insurmountable, which is why Charlotte had the ball, down by four, with 17 seconds. Doing what he's been doing since his days at Connecticut, Kemba Walker hit a clutch three to pull his team within one point. James got fouled and made both costless throws for Miami, giving Charlotte the ball down three with ten seconds remaining. Miami turned their defense up a notch, forcing a turnover. Dwyane Wade grabbed the ball and started towards the other end but got fouled. Not just any foul, a clear path foul. Two shots and possession went to Miami with two seconds left. Wade made one of two costless throws. That was the ball game.

Jefferson's injury resulted in LeBron James only missing one shot in the paint and finishing with 32 points. Chirs Bosh pitched in 20 points and only missed three shots. Jefferson did manage to grab 13 rebounds and score 18 points on a bad foot, but he shot just 9 of 23 and wasn't himself. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist set a career high of 22 points in the losing effort. The series will now head to Charlotte where the Bobcats will need to win at least two of the next three if they want to win the series.
