Anyone who watched the 2014 NBA Finals knows that the Miami Heat need a better starting point guard. Mario Chalmers just couldn't get the job done. With him being a costless agent, it seemed Norris Cole would become the starter. That is, until the Heat got Shabazz Napier through a draft day trade. However, Kyle Lowry would be the best fit out of any of the options.

Lowry, who played last season with the Toronto Raptors but is currently a costless agent, is just what Miami is looking for. He can play on both ends of the floor; a great defender who can create his own shot but also is a great distributor. With Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh being expected to restructure their contracts to costless cap space, the Heat would be able to pay Lowry a hefty sum. Granted, the won't be able to pay as much as other teams, but being able to play with LeBron James could likely make up for the lack of money.

With Lowry having elevated his game to top-10 point guard status, he will obviously be pursued by other teams. Already, Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey has met with Lowry in Philadelphia, accoring to Yahoo! Sports. So, the Heat will have some competition, but that won't stop Pat Riley from working his magic.

For the right price, the Heat need to do everything in their power to sign Kyle Lowry. He would strengthen their starting five, but more importantly, depth would be added to the bench in Napier and Cole. Everything about this move makes sense, but it's up to Pat Riley and the Heat front office to make it happen.
