The New York Knicks have announced that they have waived forward Lamar Odom and have re-signed big man Cole Aldrich.

After signing Lamar Odom to a non-guaranteed deal last season, the Knicks have waived him. “Unfortunately, Lamar was unable to uphold the standards to return as an NBA player,” Phil Jackson told reporters about the situation. “We found it necessary to costless up the roster spot,” added Phil.

Odom was able to rehab and return to the NBA after involving himself with drugs. Jackson, who coached Odom during their days with the Los Angeles Lakers, was eager to give Odom a second chance in the league. Now, his chance has been wasted, and his career is likely to come to an end.

As a result, the Knicks have re-signed center Cole Aldrich. The terms of Aldrich’s contract have not been disclosed. Aldrich, 25, was not part of New York’s rotation last season. He averaged 2.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in 7.2 minute per game.

Cole Aldrich came to the Knicks mid-way through the season and played in 46 games, while Lamar Odom was signed the last day of the regular season. He did not show up in any games for the Knicks.
