Just moments after the Washington Wizards were eliminated from Summer League play with a loss to the Kings, their high-scoring second-year shooting guard was awarded the Summer League MVP Award. Rice, the 36th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, averaged 25 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game while leading the Wizards to a 5-1 record over summer play.

Rice showed his ability to be a pure scorer. He shot well from 3-point range, and was also extremely effective taking the ball to the basket and drawing fouls. His 6'6" frame and offensive repertoir gave him the ability to dominate this tournament. His most productive game was his 36-point performance in the triple overtime win against the Spurs.

Rice said the following after winning the MVP award, "We're just trying to build off of last year. Like you said, Otto Porter played extremely well in this tournament. That made it a lot easier for me. He drew a lot of double teams."

With his Summer League performance, Glen Rice Jr. has put himself in position tp crack the rotation for the Wizards this season after averaging just 9.9 minutes in 11 appearances last season. If Rice can be a proficient scoring threat off of the bench, it will give the Wizards a dimension that they lacked last season. Wizards fans are hoping that this Summer League MVP award is just the beginning for Glen Rice Jr.
