Charlotte Hornets shooting guard Gerald Henderson will be out one to two weeks with a hamstring strain, reports Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer.

Apparently, Henderson tweaked the hamstring during practice last week, and he sat out Tuesday’s practice to receive MRI. According to Coach Steve Clifford, with the signing of Lance Stephenson, Henderson will be battling Michael Kidd-Gilchrist for the final starting position this season, but this injury will put a slight dent in Henderson’s mission to earn a starting role.

Henderson will join rookie Noah Vonleh on the injured list. Vonleh had surgery for a sports hernia and has been limited in practice. Both Henderson and Vonleh are expected to be ready for the first game of the regular season, which begins on October 29 for the Hornets.

When you’re healthy and everything is going like it usually does, you don’t think about the steps you’re taking,” said Henderson. “You work out, you have the preseason and then you have games. It’s a process. You can’t skip steps,” Henderson continued.
