The Phoenix Suns beat the San Antonio Spurs in a close one 94-89. Isaiah Thomas led the way for the Suns with 23 points on 10-of-17 from the field to go along with four assists in 29 minutes off the bench. Thomas had 10 big points in the fourth quarter to give them the win.

Markieff Morris played real well scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Alex Len had a career-high 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Suns had an off game offensively, shooting only 40 percent from the field and made 2 threes all game but did shoot 22-of-26, 84.6 percent, from the line.

They played terrific defensively, allowing 89 points and holding the Spurs to 41 percent from the field. Bledsoe only shot 3-of-15 for 12 points, and Dragic had 10 points, both who were Phoenix's leading scorers last year, but Suns were able to pull away with a victory.

The Suns, in fact, did not lead the whole game, until 3:34 left in the fourth quarter up 88-87. P.J. Tucker was serving his three-game suspension and did not play in this one.

The Spurs were without Tiago Splitter, but Kawhi Leonard returned to the floor. With 6.5 seconds left in the game, Diaw was called for a five second violation, and they turned the ball over. The Spurs were only down three at the time and had a chance to tie the game had they passed the ball inbounds on time.

Tim Duncan and Tony Parker both had good games for the Spurs, but the rest of the team just didn't get it going. Leonard and Manu Ginobili were both 0-for-5 from the floor and Danny Green just 1-for-5. Tim Duncan had 16 points on 6-of-11 from the field and nine rebounds. Tony Parker had 19 points on 8-of-16 from the field to go along with six assists.

The Spurs, last season, won a lot of games because of their role players playing well, but they did not play well tonight, and it played a huge factor in their loss this game. The Spurs were up 15 points in the first quarter and then the Suns went on a 19-6 run to comeback as Phoenix hung in close the rest of the way to eventually win this one.

The Suns added a very good piece to their team in Isaiah Thomas this offseason. He can really help them make the playoffs this season if healthy. The Spurs will once again have a great season if their role players play like they did last year. The Spurs now go 1-1 this season and Suns remain perfect, improving to 2-0.

The Spurs have a long rest before their next game, which is on Wednesday, November 5. However, the Suns are back in action tomorrow, November 1 against the Utah Jazz.
