The New York Knicks return home Tuesday night to face the Dallas Mavericks. This game marks the return of former Knick Tyson Chandler, who was traded this summer by new Knicks President Phil Jackson. Some people felt that Chandler was a disappointment in his time with the Knicks. Considering the money they were paying him, the team did not make the playoffs in his last season in New York, as Chandler did not meet expectations. Now, with the Knicks' historic struggles this season, New York seems to have more issues than they did last season, while the Dallas Mavericks are having success with a rejuvenated Tyson Chandler.

When asked about Chandler's return, Carmelo Anthony says he deserves a warm reception. “I hope they cheer for him,” Anthony said. “He was a guy who came in and won Defensive Player of the Year here. He was a big part to what we were trying to create here and what we did at one point in time." It will be interesting to see how the fans treat Chandler. It should be noted that Tyson had 17 points and a season-high 25 rebounds in Dallas' first meeting against the Knicks, a game that was played in Dallas. That night, Chandler wanted to remind the fans of what the Knicks traded away this past summer.

The Knicks are coming off a 95-90 loss Sunday night against their division rivals, the Toronto Raptors. They played well enough to have a chance to win the game with Carmelo Anthony leading the way with 34 points, going 11-of-24 from the field and playing a game-high 43 minutes. The Knicks were without guards Iman Shumpert and J.R Smith, which led to Derek Fisher playing second-year guard Tim Hardaway Jr. 35 minutes, as he contributed 18 points and was very aggressive, going 9-for-9 at the costless throw line.

The Dallas Mavericks are coming off a 105-98 loss to the West's best team, the Golden State Warriors. Dirk Nowitzki scored 23 points for Dallas, and Tyson Chandler chipped in with 11 points and 12 rebounds for his 12th double-double of the season. Monta Ellis scored 24 points to lead the Mavericks, who played without Chandler Parsons because of a sore back.

The Knicks and Mavericks tip-off starts 8 pm Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
