After having missed the last seven games with a rib injury, Deron Williams made his return and came off the bench. Mirza Teletovic, who has been diagnosed with Bilateral Pulmonary Embolus and will be forced to miss the rest of the 2014-15 season, was back in Brooklyn as he was in attendance cheering on his team.

In the first period, Los Angeles center DeAndre Jordan was having his way inside the paint. The league's field goal leader finished the quarter with nine points while hitting all four of his shot attempts. He also visited the free-throw line nine times during the quarter but was able to hit only one of his attempts.

For the Nets, they did not attempt a free throw in the first stanza. Brooklyn, however, was able to wrap up the quarter on a 7-0 run to tie the game at 22. Brook Lopez had another strong start, as he put up 18 points within 18 minutes of action by halftime. Both teams were shooting below 25 percent from the three-point arc after the first two quarters.

Los Angeles was shooting it at 39 percent from the field while Brooklyn was at 44 percent. In their previous meeting, the Clippers put up 70 points by halftime. For this game, they only achieved 36 points.

Due to the outstanding first half by Lopez, Coach Lionel Hollins decided to start him for the second half of the game. In the third frame, Los Angeles started picking it up on the offensive end, as they hit 5 of 6 shots from downtown. Brooklyn responded by hitting some threes of their own, as they knocked down four straight towards the end of the period. The Clippers would end up outscoring the Nets in the quarter, 36-32.

Midway through the final period the game, it began to seem like the Clippers were going to take a win at the Barclays Center, as they were on a 13-4 run. They continued to lead up until the final minutes of the game. Joe Johnson cut L.A.’s lead to two after hitting a long three with 23 seconds left to go. Alan Anderson then rose to the occasion, as he knocked down a three-pointer while being fouled by Blake Griffin. That foul forced Griffin to leave the game as he picked up his sixth.

Anderson converted on his free throws to give the Nets a two-point lead. Clippers guard Chris Paul, however, scored on a driving layup to tie the game at 100. With eight seconds to go, the Net had possession, and Jarrett Jack ended up converting on the game-winning shot over the outstretched arms of DeAndre Jordan.

From the starters to the bench, lots of guys for the Nets contributed big in the final seconds of the game. Brooklyn’s bench ended up outscoring LA’s bench, 50-33.  The Nets ended the game scoring 44 percent from the three-point arc, as they were able to hit on 12 three-pointers. Lopez ended up leading all scorers with 24 points. Johnson also put up some good numbers, as he finished with 22 points, five rebounds, and six assists. Williams' comeback game was pretty good, as he logged in 15 points on 29 minutes of action.

Jordan led the Clippers with 22 points and 20 boards. Paul was two boards and two assists shy of a triple-double, as he put up 20 points. Guard J.J. Redick only played four minutes before leaving the game with back spasms.

Meanwhile, Kevin Garnett made history tonight, as he moved up to eighth place on the all-time rebounding list. He surpassed Nate Thurmond with 14,467 boards in 20 seasons. After coming off a career night, Jarrett Jack was having a difficult time finding his shot. Exhaustion could have been a reason for Jack’s offensive struggle tonight, but he was able to come up big when it mattered most. Similar to their previous game, Brooklyn put up a strong fight throughout the game. The difference tonight was that they were able to avoid an overtime period and defend home court by picking up a last second win.

The Nets will now matchup with the Toronto Raptors for a second time in less than one week on February 4th. Los Angeles' next opponent will be the streaking Cleveland Cavaliers on February 5th.
