After a closely contested game against the Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Lakers will be back in action against the Denver Nuggets at the Rocky Mountains on the second night of a back to back.

The Lakers are coming off a 105-100 loss to the Clippers Tuesday night, a game where they battled to the final minute.

Jordan Clarkson paved the way for the Lakers with 20 points and six assists. He was brilliant in the third quarter but was held scoreless in the fourth. Tarik Black tied his career-high of 16 points and added nine rebounds. He and Clarkson worked well early in the third period to keep the Lakers in the game and give them a chance in the fourth, but Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, and the Clippers were too much to handle.

The Nuggets enjoyed a lengthy rest as they haven’t played since Saturday. They, too, versed the Clippers in their last game, losing 107-92. Kenneth Faried notched a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds, while Wilson Chandler scored a team-high 17 points to go with six boards and three assists.

However, J.J. Redick pushed in 25 points, while Chris Paul added 23 points and nine assists to guide the Clips to victory. DeAndre Jordan had a huge double-double with 14 points and 22 rebounds, including three blocked shots.

The Lakers and Nuggets have been eliminated from playoff contention, and this game doesn’t have much meaning. The two teams are basically fighting for better lottery positioning.

The last time these two teams met was right before the All-Star break. The Nuggets had a strong fourth quarter to put away the Lakers, 106-96. Ty Lawson was phenomenal, placing 32 points and 16 assists to power Denver past L.A.

The Lakers received a double-double from Carlos Boozer, who had 21 points and 10 rebounds. Wayne Ellington, who will not play in Wednesday’s contest, chipped in 18 points in the previous meeting.

This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two as the Nuggets lead the season series, 2-1. Coincidentally, the road teams have won all the games in this series.

Though, when the Lakers defeated the Nuggets in Denver on December 30th, they had a healthy Kobe Bryant, who recorded a triple-double of 23 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists to carry his team to victory.

Since that game, the Lakers have gone 3-19 on the road and own an overall 9-30 away record. The Nuggets have been nearly average at home, owning a 17-21 record.

The game tips off at 9 pm Eastern Standard Time.
