CLEVELAND, OH -- Timofey Mozgov has undergone successful arthroscopic surgery in his right knee, and the Cleveland Cavaliers say he'll be out about six weeks.

Mozgov had surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Marymount Surgery Center.

In the month of January, the Cavs picked up the $5 million team option on his contract for next season, which was one reason the Cavs decided to trade two first rounds picks for him. The 7'1" center from Russia was acquired in a trade in January from Denver in exchange for two first-round picks. After Anderson Varejao went down for the season with a torn Achilles injury, Mozgov was the starting center for the Cavaliers and gave them size and rim protection the Cavs desperately needed. Mozgov fit in really well for Cleveland this past season.

Timofey Mozgov averaged 10.6 points, 6.9 rebounds per game, 1.2 blocks, and shot 59% from the field in 45 regular season starts for the Cavs in 2015. Mozgov had his best season averages in points and rebounds. He was also a key contributor for the Cavs in the playoffs when Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love were out of the lineup due to injury.

Mozgov averaged 10.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in the playoffs. He should be recovered and ready to play when training camp and pre-season starts.

The impactful big man should be in good shape for the start of the regular season. The Cavs really turned their season around once they acquired Timofey in a trade. Mozgov will probably be the Cavs' starting center to begin next season, and he can really give the Cavs a chance to win the NBA title with LeBron James and company.

The Cavs have now re-signed Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson and Iman Shumpert as well to start their offseason. They are now looking to re-sign James, Matthew Dellavedova, and J.R. Smith. James has already said he will re-sign with Cleveland, but no terms have been worked out in the agreement.
