Heading to Vegas soon? Here are some odds to look in to!

Top-five odds to win the NBA Finals:

Cleveland Cavaliers: +275

San Antonio Spurs: +300

Golden State Warriors: +500

Oklahoma City Thunder: +850

Los Angeles Clippers: +1000

No one would argue with the Cavs, Spurs, and Warriors having the best odds to win the finals. Here’s the argument for each.

Cleveland: The Cavs are the closest to a sure thing to make the finals. They made it to the Eastern Conference Finals last year without Kevin Love for most of the playoffs, and played without Kyrie Irving for most of the Finals. Playing in the East is the biggest advantage for the Cavaliers. The West will be stacked again, and the East simply isn’t up to par. If they can stay healthy, they should run away with the East. They’ll have Tristan Thompson for at least one more year, and both Timofey Mozgov and Matthew Dellavedova showed their worth during last year’s playoff run. As long as the team can stay healthy, they should dominate the East and compete with whoever comes out of the West.

San Antonio: For once, San Antonio isn’t flying under the radar. The Spurs are not only returning the core of their team from last year, but they’ve added key free agents in LaMarcus Aldridge and David West. With those additions, Tim Duncan should be able to take even more nights off to keep him fresh for the playoffs. Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili aren’t getting any younger, but as long as they can be healthy and rested by the playoffs, this team should be able to make it to the Western Conference Finals, if not all the way to the NBA Finals. Kawhi Leonard, Patty Mills, Danny Green, Aldridge, and West should be able to hold the team together when the older guys take a night off. They should compete with the Warriors for home court advantage in the Western Conference.

Golden State: They won the NBA finals last year and are returning most of their team. The backcourt of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson will continue to improve, and the frontcourt of Andrew Bogut and Draymond Green will anchor the defense. The depth of the Warriors might be their biggest strength, which was on display in the Finals last year. Harrison Barnes, Festus Ezeli, Leandro Barbosa, Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston, and Marreese Speights will all continue to play important roles for this team.

Throughout the playoffs last year, depth played an important role. In the Western Conference Finals, the Warriors focused their defense on James Harden, and he couldn’t carry the Rockets to victory. Then in the Finals, not even LeBron James could carry his team past the Warriors and their depth. Coming back full strength and having their young players continue to develop, the Warriors should be even better than last year, which should terrify the rest of the NBA.

The Thunder and Clippers are the next tier down, both with solid chances of coming out of the West.

Kevin Durant should finally be healthy, and last season, Russell Westbrook was unleashed. Those two, with Serge Ibaka operating down low, should be enough to beat most teams in the NBA. As talked about earlier, depth is important when it comes to playoff basketball. The Thunder might be the exception to that rule. Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka have the opportunity to be one of the best Big 3s in history. They’ll still need contributions from their role players, but as long as the Big 3 is healthy, they’ll make a deep playoff run.

The Clippers have reloaded their roster after last season’s debacle in the Western Conference Semifinals. They brought in Paul Pierce, Josh Smith, and Lance Stephenson to improve their depth. Pierce is the X-Factor on this team. Once upon a time, he was a Finals MVP. Now, he’s a great leader, role player, and should teach the Clippers how to be a winning team. He showed last season that he’s still money in crunch time, and the Clippers struggled last season on finding a player to fill the wing spot in crunch time.

The safest bet is the Cavs. They can sustain an injury to anyone not named LeBron James and make it to the Finals. The West is stacked once again, especially at the top of the conference. If each team stays healthy, it’ll be a crapshoot to see who makes it to the NBA Finals.

Here are some sleepers to consider: Chicago Bulls (+2000), Houston Rockets (+1600), Memphis Grizzlies (+3300), and the Atlanta Hawks (+5000)
