In Steve Kerr's first game back on the bench as head coach, the Golden State Warriors notched another win as they beat the Indiana Pacers, 122-110.

Golden State jumps off to a quick start

It was a big start to the game for the Golden State Warriors as they jumped on the Pacers early. Thanks to hot shooting and turnovers by Indiana, the Warriors raced out to a 32-18 first quarter lead. Like always, Stephen Curry was on fire in the first quarter. The reigning MVP had seven points, seven rebounds, and five assists in the first quarter. It was a case of two teams going in two opposite directions in terms of playing well.

Rookies help Indiana stay in it

The Pacers bounced back in the second quarter and were able to keep themselves within striking distance thanks to two unlikely players. Rookies Myles Turner and Joe Young both scored double digits in the first half to keep the game close, and they were easily the best Pacers in the half. With Paul George struggling in the half with just six points, both Young and Turner’s pick and roll helped Indiana gain momentum as the half closed. But Golden State still held a 64-51 lead as Steph Curry hit a buzzer beater from beyond half court. Curry led the way for Golden State as he had 15 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds.

Golden State pulls away late despite good third quarter from Indy

The third quarter saw more of the same as Indiana kept fighting to stay in the game. After struggling with foul trouble, Monta Ellis had a big third quarter and helped Indiana get to within eight in the third quarter. Ellis had his mid range game going and it helped shorten the gap for Indy. But again, the Warriors made a late run to push it back to double digits as they led 88-75 at the end of the third quarter.

The beginning of the fourth saw Indiana make a run thanks to the combination of Young and Turner. Young's three-point play with around eight minutes left shortened the gap to six, putting the pressure back on Golden State. But like they always do, the Warriors picked up the efficiency and got a grip on the game once again, and they did that with Steph Curry on the bench as well.

In the end it was all too much for Indiana, who didn't get much help from star player Paul George who struggled in this game, finishing the game with 12 points on 5-of-15 shooting. But the play of Young and Turner are positives that Indiana can take away from this game.
