Another day and another blowout win for the Toronto Raptors. Winning games is becoming too easy for the Raptors, so tonight they decided that they would embarrass the Blake Griffin-less Los Angeles Clippers and sweep the season series.

Raptors Go On Huge Run To Secure The Victory

Entering the second quarter, the Raptors trailed the Clippers 34-27. From that point on they decided to start playing Toronto Raptor basketball ending the quarter on a 35-15 run, giving them a 62-49 advantage at the end of the first half. The Clippers starters made their run early in the third, led by Chris Paul who finished with 23 points and 11 assists on the night. They managed to cut their deficit to six but that would be the closest that they would get.

The Raptors finished the game with seven players in double-figures in scoring, overcoming the Clippers 112-94 for their eighth straight win.

Bench Play Looms Large

Toronto's bench was absolutely tremendous in this contest, combining for 51 points. Terrence Ross led the bench, scoring 18 points and connecting on five three-pointers, while Bismack Biyombo had 10 points while collecting a team-high nine rebounds. Tonight was one of those nights that both Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan didn't need to score over 30-plus, as they combined for just 39 points.

The so called "Raptors Killer" Paul Pierce could have been replaced with Raptors global ambassador Drake, that is how ineffective he was tonight. Pierce had just four points on 1-of-5 shooting in his first return to Toronto since late April.

Jonas Valanciunas quietly had himself a monstrous night, feasting all over DeAndre Jordan in the paint, pouring in 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting while grabbing down eight boards.

Where Is Everyone Else?

The problem tonight for the Clippers was the effort from the bench. While Chris Paul and J.J. Redick combined for 40 points, the rest of the team went a combined 20-of-49 (40.8 percent). The Clippers bench was out-scored by the Raptors bench by 25 points and would be the sole reason that would deny the Clippers from crawling back back into the game.

Jamal Crawford had a frustrating night, receiving a technical foul for an altercation with Raptors' forward Patrick Patterson, that involved some pushing due to a loose ball. Crawford shot just 1-of-6 from the field with a +/- of -35 in about 19 minutes of action.

Climbing The Standings And Making History

On the other side, the Raptors continue to make franchise history as they won their eighth straight game, closing in on tying the franchise record of nine straight wins dating back to the 2002 NBA season. The Raptors are also just 1.5 games behind the first seeded Cleveland Cavaliers.

Up Next

The Raptors next eight games are against teams under .500, including their next three matchups against the Washington Wizards (Tuesday), New York Knicks (Thursday: also on national television), and the Detroit Pistons (Saturday).

As the Raptors continue to stay hot, the chances of them becoming a threat to the heavily favored Cavaliers to come out of the Eastern Conference is something that looks very possible.
