After the Miami Heat took a major blow with LeBron James deciding to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers, it looked like things were falling apart in South Beach. Chris Bosh was nearing a deal with the Houston Rockets, and the Chicago Bulls were expressing interest in Dwyane Wade.

However, Chris Bosh pulled a last minute shocker as he withdrew from Houston’s offer and took a maximum contract for five-years with Miami, giving the Heat the fuel to re-sign Dwyane Wade. Now, Wade has agreed to a two-year,  $34 million deal with Miami including a player option for the second year. Udonis Haslem is expected to be the next to re-sign with the team.

Dwyane Wade is not the same player he was prior to LeBron James joining the Heat. He was able to carry Miami when he was healthier. Now, he is going to need more help, and Bosh could definitely fulfill those needs.

Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are still, individually, great players. They each have the ability to put up good numbers, especially Bosh. Chris Bosh averaged 24.0 points and 10.8 rebounds per game throughout his last season with the Toronto Raptors, in 2009-10. In spite of his age, Bosh can produce since he will see more touches and shot attempts. In a game earlier last season where James did not play, Bosh put up 37 points and 10 rebounds as the Heat beat the then-top seeded Portland Trail Blazers on the road. Wade chipped in with 16 points and 7 assists in that game.

Wade will probably not put up monster numbers, but he has high I.Q., and terrific leadership skills. That, and Chris Bosh alone, are enough for Miami to be a top four team in the Eastern Conference with a good supporting cast.

Furthermore, the Heat agreed to sign Luol Deng to a two year deal. Deng is a fantastic perimeter defender and a solid spot up shooter. Of course, he does not compensate for the loss of LeBron but is still be an outstanding pickup. The team also retained Mario Chalmers and Chris Andersen and signed Josh McRoberts and Danny Granger to deepen its bench.

The Miami Heat will not be championship contenders any more, but they are certainly going to be a strong playoff team. The Eastern Conference is starting to become more exciting with power shifting to other teams like the Bulls, Raptors, and Cavaliers. There will unquestionably be more balance in the East this upcoming season.

As for Dwyane Wade re-signing with the Miami Heat, he is just doing his duty and staying loyal to the organization with which he has won three championships. Even after LeBron’s decision to depart, Wade had no interest in other teams. He wanted to be with the Heat and could end up retiring in a Miami Heat uniform.

"Home is where the heart is...my home, my city, my house," Dwyane Wade posted on his Instagram page.
