Early Predictions for the 2014-15 College Basketball Season

1. Duke- (26-9, 13-5 in 2013-14): Jabari Parker and Rodney Hood will most likely enter the NBA draft. But with Tyus Jones, Jahlil Okafor, Justise Winslow and Grayson Allen joining a team that will bring back Rasheed Sulaimon, Matt Jones and Amile Jefferson, Coach K is looking for a national championship next year.

2. Kansas- (25-10, 14-4 in 2013-14): Kansas loses two guys who potentially could be the #1 and #2 picks in this year's draft but still remains a title contender with their highly ranked recruiting class. With the return of Wayne Seldon and Perry Ellis and the addition of Kelly Oubre and Cliff Alexander, Kansas will be fine.

3. Kentucky- (29-11, 12-6 in 2013-14): If Calipari can talk his freshman squad from last year to stay Kentucky will be playing in the championship yet again. Their incoming class is without question one of the best in the nation the addition of the 4 McDonalds All Americans: Trey Lyles, Tyler Ulis, Karl Towns Jr., Devin Booker. Tyler Ulis and Devin Booker only need to be facilitators, jump-shooters and post-feeders.

4. Arizona- (33-5, 15-3 in 2013-14): Arizona will probably be a victim of the one-and-done as Aaron Gordon will pursue the NBA Draft, but no need to worry. Nick Johnson should be back in Tucson in the fall. The Wildcats bring in Stanley Johnson who will be an immediate impact player as well as Craig Victor and Kadeem Allen.

5. North Carolina- (24-10, 13-5 in 2013-14): Roy Williams had to deal with a tough loss last season when P.J. Hairston was suspended. Marcus Paige was the leading scorer this past season and will likely return to Chapel Hill in the fall, but the Tar Heels will have a hard time trying to replace James Michael McAdoo and Leslie McDonald. However North Carolina brings back practically the same team and adds Justin Jackson and Theo Pinson, who are extremely dangerous at the forward position.

6. SMU- (27-10, 12-6 in 2013-14):The Mustangs were the first team left out of the NCAA tournament due to the fact that they didn’t play anyone in the non-conference. Southern Methodist brings back virtually their entire roster — which includes Markus Kennedy and Nic Moore — but most importantly will welcome a high-caliber point guard in Emmanuel Mudiay.

7. Texas- (24-11, 11-7 in 2013-14): The Longhorns will bring back everyone. Texas will return all five of their starter from last season and are the team who will more than likely take home the Big 12 championship. At this point Texas isn't really bringing in any big name recruits but are waiting on Myles Turner to make his decision on where he will play college ball in the fall and Texas is on the list.

8. Wisconsin- (30-8, 12-6 in 2013-14): After finally getting Bo Ryan over the hump and advancing to the Final Four, a repeat performance seems very possible. Wisconsin loses starting guard Ben Brust but could return the rest of its key faces from its Final Four roster. That's if 7-foot overnight celebrity Frank Kaminsky and top player Sam Dekker don't decide to turn pro. Badgers are a bigger, more physical team with Sam Dekker sliding back to his more natural small forward spot.

9. Colorado- (23-12, 10-8 in 2013-14):The Buffaloes were able to still make the field of 68 despite the injury to its best player, Spencer Dinwiddie. If Dinwiddie returns, this team should be even better than it was in 2013-14. If Tad Boyle gets him back, the Buffs will be stacked since every other major contributor returns.

10. Virginia- (30-7, 16-2 in 2013-14): Tony Bennett does lose two key starters from his ACC Championship squad but he has built the UVA program to fit his style of coaching, starting on the defensive end. Leading scorer Malcolm Brogdon (12.7 ppg) returns, as do key players Anthony Gill and Justin Anderson. Developing big man Mike Tobey is also back. Look for point guard London Perrantes to really hit his stride as a sophomore.
