11:56 PM EST: WIth just five minutes until kickoff, the pressure is mounting for both teams. The winner still has a shot for a Big 12 title, and possibly a playoff berth. The loser is pretty much eliminated from both.

11:49 PM EST: 11 o´clock kickoffs are never easy for teams to get off to fast starts. It´s hard to wake up and there is not much energy from the crowd.

11:47 PM EST: Getting close to kickoff in Norman, equally important for both teams is getting off to a fast start.

11:37 PM EST: Kansas State needs to keep the OU defense off guard by staying balance. Getting the running game going will help set up the pass, and possibly a wide open Lockett.

11:27PM EST:The Sooners need to be better on third down. They cannot get behind the chains and expect to sustain drives. Third and five or shorter needs to be a goal for Oklahoma to convert.

11:20 PM EST: It´s a nice sunny day in Norman, Oklahoma. The temperaute is currently 59 degrees about 30 minutes before kickoff.

11:12 PM EST Once again, the key for the Sooners on offense is Trevor Knight. Oklahoma will have a much better chance if Knight is allowed to run the ball more than he has so far this season..

11:05 PM EST: How will Oklahoma´s secondary handle the explosiveness of Tyler Lockett? They have struggled lately, and there is no Aaron Colvin to help out this year.

11:00 PM EST: It´s just under an hour before kickoff between these two teams in what is one of the best games of the day.

10:58 PM EST: Welcome to Vavel USA´s coverage of the Kansas State WIldcats and the Oklahoma Sooners.

Kansas State has had much success with their running quarterback this season. Oklahoma fans have been questioning why Knight, with his mobility, has not been called to run the ball that often in 2014. His feet could cause a problem if Offensive Coordinator Josh Heupel decides to go that direction.

The Oklahoma defense has been exposed over the past few weeks. Texas lit them up in the middle of the field. The secondary has not played to their potential either. There is plenty of talent on this defense, they must play better. Also, the offense has to help by sustaining drives.

Kansas State is not exactly the defense to help an inconsistent offense gain confidence. The WIldcats are one of the best defenses in conference, ranking in the top four in every single category.

Sterling Shepard has been the man for Trevor Knight. Shepard´s streak of four straight one hundred yards games ended last week against Texas.

Keith Ford has been ruled out once again for Oklahoma. Ford has been suffering from a broken fibula since September 13th.

The running game has not been a problem for the Sooners in 2014. Oklahoma is averaging 191 yards per game, ranking only behind Baylor in that category. They are led by ture freshman Samaje Perine who is second in the league in rushing. Alex Ross has chipped in as well.

For OU, Trevor Knight has to be more consistent if the Sooners want to get out with a victory. He is only completing 55.1 percent of his passes and averaginges 250.5 yards per game. He has only thrown for six touchdowns and has five interceptions this season.

The Wildcat´s most dangerous weapon is Tyler Lockett. Lockett leads the team in receiving and ranks fifth int the conference in all-purpose yards.

Charles Jones and Demarcus Robinson are other threats on the ground. They each have over 200 yards rushing and 11 combined touchdowns.

Individually, Jake Watershas been well-balanced on offense for this team. He is completing 65 percent of his passes this season for 1,206 yards. He has thrown seven touchdown passes three interceptions. Waters also has the ability to run, leading the team in that category. He has rushed 320 yards and six touchdowns.

Both offenses are in the top 5 in scoring. The Wildcats are third at 40.8 points per game while the Sooners are fourth and averaging 40.5 points.

Both of these teams are close when it comes to offense. The Wildcats are sixth in the conference at 440 yards per game. The Sooners, despite recent struggles, are still fifth in the Big 12 averaging 445.5 yards per game.

Now it´s time to talk about this year´s game.

Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight played what has been his second best game in a Sooners´ uniform. Knight was 14-of-20 passing for 170 yards with one touchdown and an interception. He also carried the ball 14 times for 82 yards.

Jake Waters lit up the Sooners´ defense for 348 yards passing and three touchdowns. The beneficiary of of Waters´ play was Oklahoma native Tyler Lockett. Lockett caught three long touchdown passes of 48,  30, and 90 yards. He finished with 278 yards receiving in the game.

This game has some returning players from last season, including Kansas State´s two best players.

Oklahoma defeated the Wildcats last season in a high scoring shootout. The Sooners ended up winning 41-31 in a tough environment.

The Sooners have not looked particulary great the past two weeks. Oklahoma lost to TCU and then had to hold on against a bad Texas team. The Sooners survived a Longhorn rally to win the Red River RIvalry 31-26.

This game promises to be a good one. Kansas State is 4-1 on the season and is coming off a 45-13 thrashing of Texas Tech two weeks ago. The WIldcats also played Auburn extremely tough, and if it were not for costly mistakes, could have gotten the upset.

The last time these two teams played in Norman did not go well for the Sooners. The Wildcats´ defense controlled the Sooners´ offense in a 24-19 victory.

One of those wins, Sooners have tried to erase from their minds. K-State throttled the Sooners in the 2003 Big 12 Championship game 35-7. Darren Sproles gashed the Sooners for 235 yards on the ground.

The two head coaches in this one also have history together. Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops spent seven seasons in Manhattan under Bill Snyder. Stoops is currently 8-2 against his former mentor.

This series between the two teams goes all the way back to 1908. Oklahoma has dominated Kansas State in the 94 meetings. Oklahoma leads the series 72-18-4.

Welcome to Vavel USA´s coverage of the top 15 matchup between the 14th ranked Kansas State Wildcats - Oklahoma Sooners at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
