Five SEC West teams are still alive for the title game. Eight teams in the Mountain West are all within a games of each to get to the conference title game. Five teams in the AAC are tied for first. Seven ACC teams have two or three conference losses. Four teams in the Big Ten West have only one loss. Then there is the messy Big 12 and Pac-12 conferences.

To say this college football season has been quite a ride would be somewhat of a redundant statement. Every college football season brings drama, but rarely does any sport bring as many teams fighting for top dog this late in the season. Looking at the latest AP Rankings, you could make a case to say that any of the top 15 teams (maybe even lower) still have a shot at the playoffs. Of course, only four will make it, but all the other bowls need filling too and we thankfully still have time for things to play out before those decisions need to be made.

This past weekend saw the fall of #3 Ole Miss, #11 Georgia, #12 Arizona, #17 Utah, #20 West Virginia, and #23 East Carolina all to conference foes. That is not even mentioning narrow escapes by #1 Mississippi St, #2 Florida St, #3 Auburn, #7 TCU, #10 Notre Dame, #14 Arizona St, and #24 Duke.

The losses did, however, clear up a few conference races for us. Arizona and Utah's losses give Arizona St the edge in the Pac-12 South, while the North division is now all but Oregon's after their big win over Stanford.

The SEC West has one less competitor after Ole Miss' second conference loss in as many weeks. Georgia's loss paves the way for Missouri to take the East, despite Georgia blowing them out earlier in the year.

The American Conference has now become a scattered mess after perennial front runner East Carolina lost to a decent, but still worse than them Temple team. Five teams in the AAC all have one conference loss and Temple is just a game behind and has the best conference win now. Also, with ECU losing their second game, the group of five now has a new clear favorite in Marshall to go to a new years six bowl game. Colorado State is also in the running now if they can win out.

The college football landscape has changed again and will almost certainly change again this coming weekend, which has already been dubbed Showdown Saturday. Us, the fans, will continue to enjoy the ride as we anticipate the second college football rankings Tuesday night. Also on Tuesday night and Wednesday, is the long awaited return of #MACtion with two games each night.

Week 11 Rose Rankings: 1 Mississippi St, 2 Florida St, 3 Oregon, 4 Alabama, 5 Auburn, 6 Michigan St, 7 Notre Dame, 8 Kansas St, 9 Arizona St, 10 TCU, 11 Ohio St, 12 Baylor, 13 Ole Miss, 14 Oklahoma, 15 Georgia, 16 Nebraska, 17 Arizona, 18 LSU, 19 UCLA, 20 Marshall, 21 Wisconsin, 22 Utah, 23 Clemson, 24 Duke, 25 Colorado St. Just missing the cut: Missouri, USC, Boise St, Georgia Tech, and Iowa.
