Whether it was the 30 degree weather or not, the #6 Arizona State Sun Devils were no match for the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday night, as the Beavers dominated the Sun Devils en route to a massive 35-27 upset win.

The upset loss for the Devils ruins their chance at a College Football playoff opportunity as they now have two losses, both in PAC-12 play.

Oregon State had the upper hand from the start with Storm Johnson storming through the Arizona State defense for a early 78 yard touchdown to take the 7-0 lead. Terron Ward had a 66 yard touchdown run a bit later in the quarter, making it 14-3. Oregon State had over 180 yards rushing just in the first quarter.

The Sun Devils made it a game again with a 17 yard touchdown pass from Taylor Kelly to DJ Foster to close out the quarter. It appeared Arizona State was back to its old ways and in command of the game in the second quarter. Taylor Kelly threw his second touchdown pass to Kody Kohl for a 46 yard score and the lead of 17-14. Anthony Longino would return a  fumble following a sack of Sean Mannion 36 yards for a touchdown to extend the lead to 24-14. All was good right? No.

Both offenses were quiet until late in the third when Mannion found Victor Bolden for a 20 yard touchdown, cutting the lead to 24-21. Zane Gonzalez kicked a 29 yard field goal to extend the lead to 27-21 before the Beavers struck with yet another big play.

Sean Mannion beat the Arizona State blitz for a 67 yard touchdown pass to Jordan Villamin to put Oregon State up 28-27. Taylor Kelly struggled throwing the ball all night in the cold, only completing 50 percent of his passes. One of his incompletions cost the Devils their season. Kelly failed to read the zone coverage of Oregon State and threw a pick six to Michael Doctor with 1:38 left that was returned 35 yards to literally ice the game.

ASU's next game is back in the 70 degree weather of Tempe, Arizona at Sun Devil Stadium. They face off against Washington State in a early evening affair.
