The Virginia Cavaliers improved to 24-1 (12-1) with a 61-49 victory over the Pitt Panthers. Virginia made Pittsburgh uncomfortable from the start of the game, as Pittsburgh went six minutes in the first half and five minutes in the second half without scoring a field goal.

Malcolm Brogdon led the Cavaliers with 18 points and 4 rebounds. Anthony Gill and London Parrantes also scored in double figures for Virginia. Once again for Virginia the story was their effort, patience and defense, something that is expected from a Tony Bennett-coached team.

Pittsburgh moved to 17-10 (6-7) on the year. The Panthers came into this game with the momentum but were smothered early by the pressure of the Cavs. Pittsburgh was starting to have great hope at making the NCAA tournament after defeating North Carolina on Saturday, but it looks like Pittsburgh will need some more work in the ACC to make the Big Dance.

Jamel Artis led the Panthers with 20 points including going 4-8 from behind the arc. Cameron Wright and James Robinson, two of Pittsburgh's best players, were held to a combined 5 points going 1-8 from the field.

Virginia will host Florida State on Sunday and Pittsburgh will head to the Carrier Dome to take on Syracuse.
