Wow! Santa Clara beats Saint Mary's 71-70! That opens up the door for BYU to earn the #2 seed in the West Coast Conference Tournament with a win tonight.

It is a one-point game at Santa Clara. Saint Mary's still on top with 22 seconds left.

A big defensive play from Boise State to maintain possession with a 9 point lead and 57 seconds left.

Boise State out to an 8-point lead with 1:42 left.

Both of the 8:00 pm ET games we are watching are very good going down the stretch. Boise State is up by 6 with 2:35 left. Saint Mary's and Santa Clara are tied at 67 with 2:12 left.

Saint Mary's is still in a close one. 66-63 Gaels with 4:15 remaining.

The battle for the Pac-12 regular season title could be decided tonight as the Arizona Wildcats are playing the Utah Utes. Arizona would hold a two-game lead if they win. They currently lead 19-17 in the first half.

A big game on ESPN2 before our game as the Boise State Broncos lead San Diego State 44-41 with 6:36 left. A Boise State win would likely put them into the next VAVEL Bracketology piece. They are hovering on the outside looking in right now.

Saint Mary's leads Santa Clara by a score of 55-52 with 7:56 left. A win by Saint Mary's will give them the #2 seed in the West Coast Conference Tournament.

Looking at some notable games going on right now:

Welcome in to our live coverage of West Coast Conference basketball. We are very excited to bring you coverage of this big game tonight here on VAVEL USA.

We will also be keeping you posted on another big game on the good side of the Rocky Mountains. That one is from the Mountain West Conference as the Boise State Broncos travel to face the San Diego State Aztecs in a big seeding game ahead of the Mountain West Tournament.

BYU is in third place in the West Coast Conference just one game behind Saint Mary’s. The Gaels are playing away to Santa Clara with their tip-off at 8:00 pm ET. We will keep you posted on that score so we will know what the Cougars are playing for in tonight’s match-up.

The impressive stat is that Collinsworth has five triple-doubles this season. He also has another eight double-doubles that don’t even include the triple-doubles in it. He will likely be matched up with Kevin Pangos, watch Collinsworth’s rebound numbers as he does hold a slight height advantage over Pangos.

Finally, the most important person to follow in the game is Kyle Collinsworth. The 6-foot-6 junior guard is having a monster season. His numbers seem to be pretty average at 13.3 points per game, 8.6 rebounds per game, and 5.9 assists per game.

The second player is Skyler Halford. The 6-foot-1 senior earns a bunch of minutes off the bench for the Cougars and he does not disappoint. He averages 8.3 points per game but is averaging 15 per game in the last five. He has really improved his three-point shooting hitting 55% in the last five games.

Tyler Haws is the first player. The 6-foot-5 senior averages 22.3 points per game by himself and has scored 106 points in the last five games. He takes a very high volume of the shots with 79 in the last five. He has been very consistent this season with 22 games where he has scored 20 or more points.

There are three players from BYU that fans of the Zags should keep an eye on tonight.

The BYU Cougars come into the game today on a five-game winning streak. They are also the highest scoring team in the Nation averaging 84.4 points per game.

The other player to watch for Gonzaga is Kevin Pangos. The senior guard is averaging five assists per game and six per game in the last five. Pangos is a dangerous player because he is not only a very solid shooter who can take over a game with his shot; he also possesses great vision on the court. His ability to find the open man, either a shooter from distance or Karnowski/Wiltjer/Sabonis in the post, is superior to almost everybody in the NCAA.

It has been very interesting to see Wiltjer’s confidence in his long-range shooting show up recently. He has made 18 three pointers on 33 attempts in the month of February (seven games). He has scored 20+ points in three of those games while also having a double-double in three of those games.

The 6-foot-10 junior from Portland, Oregon had a career game just nine days ago on the road against Pacific. Wiltjer scored 45 points on 15-of-22 shooting which included him making 7-of-10 shots from three-point range.

Kentucky transfer Kyle Wiltjer has established himself as the scoring threat on this team. He has scored 100 points in the last five games while shooting an impressive 14-of-26 from behind the arc in that stretch.

The Zags lead the nation in field goal percentage shooting 52.7% from the floor as a team. That number has been a little lower in the last five games but a 49.8% shooting percentage is nothing to be down about. Gonzaga is averaging 70.2 points per game in their last five games.

On top of their current winning streak, they also will be looking to extend their home winning streak to 42 consecutive wins at The Kennel. Their last loss on campus came on December 8th, 2012 when the Zags fell 85-74 to the visiting Illinois Fighting Illini. Since then, they have won 41 straight home games by an average of 22.5 points per game.

Gonzaga has already clinched the West Coast Conference Regular Season Title and the #1 seed in the West Coast Conference Tournament. The Zags have won 22 straight games since December 6th when they lost at Arizona in overtime.

BYU, on the other hand, is currently at the bottom end of the bracket depending on which brackets you read. They are one of the last four in on the latest VAVEL Bracketology post but some Bracketologists have the Cougars on the outside looking in. A win over Gonzaga would be a huge boost to BYU’s resume.

Gonzaga is towards the top of the tournament around the #1 or #2 line depending on which brackets you read. The Zags are the top team in the West Region according to the latest VAVEL Bracketology post.

The two schools come into tonight’s game on different ends of the NCAA Tournament spectrum.

Good evening and welcome to VAVEL USA’s live coverage of NCAA Division 1 College Basketball. Our game tonight comes to you from The Kennel in Spokane, Washington as the BYU Cougars (22-8, 12-5) travel to take on the third-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs (29-1, 17-0).
