About to tip off from Jacksonville, Florida. Harvard vs UNC

7:24 PM EST: North Carolina shot under 35 percent in their last game, and had 12 turnovers while losing to the Wolfpack.

7:21 PM EST: Harvard is led by Senior Wesley Saunders, averaging just over 16 points this season.

7:13 PM EST: UNC will be leaning on senior PG Marcus Page, who has been leading the Heels with 13 PPG and 4 assists as well.

7:07 PM EST: VCU vs OSU is in overtime, waiting for that one to finish before UNC - Harvard gets put on! Stay tuned

Unlike a good amount of other teams in the Tournament, North Carolina can beat you from almost every position on the court. Players like Brice Johnson, Kennedy Meeks, and Justin Jackson each score over ten points per game. The player to watch though is J.P. Tokoto. The 6-foot-5 junior is agile enough to play guard but is strong enough to play in the post. He also had some major hops, throwing down some massive dunks against Duke during their meeting back in February.

North Carolina is led by guard Marcus Paige. The 6-foot-1 junior from Marion, Iowa leads the team in scoring with 13.9 points per game but is the emotional leader on the court as well. As long as he can stay out of foul trouble and on the court, North Carolina should be fine.

While the Irish did end up winning that game, North Carolina proved that they will be a team to be reckoned with in this NCAA Tournament.

Not much was expected of the Tar Heels in the ACC Tournament but they were able to get hot at the right time to beat Louisville and Virginia to advance into the ACC Final against Notre Dame.

North Carolina struggled a little bit during the ACC season with the addition of Notre Dame. The Tar Heels finished 5th in the Regular Season with an 11-7 record with only one loss that could be considered a bad loss in conference; that coming away to Pittsburgh.

This is only the second time the Tar Heels have been a #4 seed since 1979.

North Carolina has not lost in their first NCAA Tournament game since 1999 when they fell 76-74 to Weber State. The last time they were a #4 seed was in 1992, that year they advanced to the Sweet Sixteen where they would lose to the Ohio State Buckeyes 80-73.

The North Carolina Tar Heels come into their 46th NCAA Tournament all-time, their fifth consecutive tournament, and their 10th appearance in the last 11 years.

Like both meetings before, the game was tight down the stretch. Javier Duren of Yale made a few free throws to level the score at 51 with 55 seconds to go. Steve Moundou-Missi missed a jumper with 38 seconds left before pulling down an offensive rebound and sinking the winning shot with 9 seconds remaining to send the Crimson to the NCAA Tournament.

Yale would go on to lose in their regular season finale to Dartmouth while Harvard beat Brown to force a playoff between the two sides.

Harvard did not have much hope in winning the Ivy League on March 6th when they lost at home by 10 to Yale. The two teams came into the game tied with just two games to go in the Regular Season. Yale came away with the 10 point win in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The Crimson have the 12th best defense in the Nation while allowing only 57.2 points per game. On the flip side, their offense is ranked 260th in the nation with 64.2 points per game scored.

One of the big reasons for the drop in offensive numbers has been the slowing down of the game by head coach Tommy Amaker. Amaker has built his team on the ideals of a good half-court offense along with tough defense.

This season though, Chambers and Moundou-Missi have seen their averages drop below ten points per game. The next few players have dropped to 8.3 and 6.0 points per game respectively.

Siyani Chambers and Steve Moundou-Missi each averaged over 10.5 points per game back in 2013-14. That season also saw three players average between 9.4 and 9.9 points per game as well.

Saunders has seen his average point total increase every year since his freshman year and he has been a huge part of the offense. Unfortunately, his supporting cast has seen their numbers drop.

One of the constants over the last three years for the Crimson has been senior guard Wesley Saunders. The 6-foot-5 player from Los Angeles, California leads the team for the third straight year in scoring with 16.3 points per game while grabbing 6.1 rebounds per game.

Harvard is making their fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their fourth consecutive appearance. They have an all-time record of 2-5 in the Tournament. Those wins have come in the second round in each of their last two appearances. It was New Mexico in 2013 and Cincinnati in 2014.

The winner of this game will advance into the Third Round on Saturday and a matchup against the winner of the Arkansas/Wofford game that will start about 30 minutes after our game is completed.
