Week six of college football action is here and we are almost midway through the season. It is homecoming week at Temple University, and the Owls are back at home after three straight road games. The Temple Owls will face the Tulane Green Wave on Saturday at 12 PM ET at Lincoln Financial Field.

Temple is 4-0 on the year and is coming off of a thrashing of Charlotte last weekend. Before that, the Owls were 3-0 with wins over Penn State, Cincinnati and UMass. The Owls 4-0 start is their best start to a season since 1974, when they started that season at 4-0.

Tulane has had an okay start to their 2015 campaign. They are 2-2 on the year, following an 0-2 start which included an embarrassing 65-10 loss to 15th ranked Georgia Tech. After that, they have had two wins over Maine and UCF.

Temple’s offense has been driven by their run game through Jahad Thomas. Thomas has totaled 503 yards and six touchdowns on the ground through the first five games of the year. The Owls have averaged 30.8 points per game. Temple also has quarterback P.J. Walker to lead the passing game. Walker has 731 passing yards on the year, five touchdowns, 60.4 percent completion percentage, and only two interceptions.

Tulane’s offense is centered around quarterback Tanner Lee. Lee has thrown for 878 yards, seven touchdowns, two interceptions, and a 55.2 percent completion percentage. Lee has led Tulane to average 25.0 points per game while averaging 352.8 total yards per game, partly thanks to his favorite target Teddy Veal, who has caught seventeen passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns.

On defense, for both teams, Temple has a clear advantage. The Owls have only allowed 15.5 points per game, while Tulane has allowed 35 points per game. Temple’s defense is led by linebacker Tyler Matakevich, who has stacked up sacks and is also finding a way to pick off quarterbacks throughout the season. Turning to Tulane, they do not have a standout star, but they play well as a team, which was highlighted in last week’s game against UCF where they forced five turnovers en route to victory.

In last year’s matchup, Temple edged a 10-3 win to end the 2014 season with a late touchdown pass in the fourth quarter from Walker to Romond Deloatch.

Turning to Vegas, the odds makers have the Owls taking down the Green Wave. The Owls are 15 points favorites on the spread. They are expecting a fairly high scoring game between the two, as the over/under for the game is set at 46.5, meaning they are predicting a 31-15 victory for Temple. The game will be televised on ESPNU but be sure to tune into VAVEL USA’s live broadcast on the game on Saturday.
