The Maryland Terrapins were a topic of discussion around the country this week the job status of head coach Randy Edsall. The Terrapins channeled their focus on the football field and put up a pretty good fight against the Ohio State Buckeyes for 45 minutes until the Buckeyes scored 28 unanswered points the Terrapins would fall to 2-4 on the season losing 49-28.

Terrapins quarterback Perry Hills had a record day as he now owns the school record for most rushing yards in a game by a quarterback with 170 yards including a 75 yard near the end of the first half. The Terrapins overall rushed for 253 yards. Hills was basically the entire offense for the Terps this afternoon. When his wide receivers dropped passes in critical situations in the first half, he didn't let that bother him. Hills improvised and made plays for himself. When it was time to go for a first down, he lowered his shoulders and took whatever hit the Buckeyes defense gave him.

For much of the game, the Terrapins were hanging around with Buckeyes which has been a familiar theme for Ohio State all season long. It doesn't matter if the team the Buckeyes are playing is good or bad. They continue to play to their opponents level and sooner or later it will catch up to them. At one point in the second half the score was tied 21-21. People can take that as the Terrapins putting up a fight to help save Edsall's job or people can take that as the Buckeyes not putting teams away the way a number one ranked team in the country is supposed to do.

For the Terrapins, its the third time this season that they have given up 40 plus points.Terps  Defensive coordinator Keith Dudzinski is in his first year at the position for this team. The Terps defense stood tall early and often in the first half rattling both Buckeyes quarterbacks in Cardale Jones and J.T. Barrett. They even shut down running back Ezekiel Elliott in the first half as well. But it was just a matter of time before the Buckeyes offense got going as they scored 28 points in the second half. The Terps defense still has to learn how to finish.

So with that being said, depending on the status of Edsall's future with the team, Dudzinski shouldn't be too comfortable with position either.

Overall, the Terps fall to last place in the Big Ten East standings and the second worst record overall in the Big Ten only in front of the Purdue Boilermakers. Next up on the schedule for the Terrapins, the team will have a bye week to get ready for a matchup against the Penn State Nittany Lions in Baltimore.
