When asked about, "What's the key to a short turnaround for Wyoming?" Lansing stayed fairly unspecific of the adjustments needed to be made by saying, "We have to work on some things. Wyoming is an NCAA (Tournament team) coming back from last year. They are very well coached and put together. Coach Shyatt is a great coach and has always coached teams that don't make many mistakes. That's what I got to do a better job in. We are a team that made a bunch of mistakes tonight at both ends, and I got to change that."

Following Friday night's intra-state defeat at the hands of IUPUISycamores head coach Greg Lansing stayed positive when asked about the poor performances of Matt Van Scyoc (zero points and one rebound) and "stud sophomore" Brenton Scott (12 points on 4-for-18 shooting) by responding, "Matt is a very good player. And he (is) not doing what he needs to do right now, but he will." and "Brenton Scott is a much better player than what he showed tonight. I think he reverted back into 'old Brenton' a little bit with some of the shots he was taking."

Possessing the second best Missouri Valley Conference backcourt in Devonte BrownKhristian Smith, and 2014-2015 Freshman of the Year Brenton Scott (only behind Wichita State's Ron Baker, Fred Van Vleet, and Evan Wessell), the Indiana State Sycamores will have the better trio of guards for 16 of their 18 conference bouts. However, their frontcourt is one of the smallest and weakest, not only in the MVC but the midwest in general. Hindered by the departure of Justin Gant and Jake Kitchell in addition to T.J. Bell tearing his Achilles in a summer workout, Indiana State is starting 6'7" Brandon Murphy and 6'6" Matt Van Scyoc, who is a transfer that led The Citadel in scoring two years ago (14.3 PPG).

With the graduations of NanceRiley GrabauDerek Cooke Jr., and Charles Hankerson Jr., guard Josh Adams is the only player to average over four points per game last season and still be suiting up in Laramie. On opening night, the senior stuffed the stat sheet with nine points, seven rebounds, and seven assists on 3-for-6 shooting. But, let's not get too excited since the game was against a non-Division I school from California.

While a 4-8 conference record (and losses to Eastern Illinois as well as UMKC) made conference opponents underestimate them, Greg Lansing's Indiana State Sycamores shocked "The Valley" by starting conference play with five straight wins. Unfortunately, a combination of their pitiful overall record (15-16) and a healthy Milton Doyle in "Arch Madness" made all the leaves fall off the tree without postseason action.

Led by the 27th overall pick in this past June's NBA Draft Larry Nance, the Wyoming Cowboys punched their ticket to the 2015 NCAA Tournament by marching past the top two teams (Boise State and San Diego State) in the 2015 Mountain West Conference Tournament. Though, once in the field of 68, their time dancing was cut short as Seth Tuttle's Northern Iowa Panthers double teamed Nance Jr., and contained him to 16 points in a 71-54 win.

For the first time since 2012 and the days of Doug McDermott inhabiting the MVC, the Mountain West Conference and Missouri Valley Conference decided to bring the MW/MVC Challenge back for bragging rights. Heading into tonight's action, the Mountain West leads the series two victories to one. The first conference to six wins claims the hardware. The ten matchups in this year's challenge are listed above.
