Kentucky played just their second road game of the year and it didn't look any different from the first. The Wildcats got punched from the very start and did not play with a sense of urgency.

Foul Trouble

Two important pieces for Kentucky to get out of Baton Rouge with a win was big men Marcus Lee and Alex Poythress showing up. Neither of those players made a difference as they both fouled out, including Lee fouling out playing only six minutes.

These two were the ideal players to guard Ben Simmons, and with them both out halfway through the second half, the Wildcats had to adapt.

Derek Willis was called upon and it didn't work out well since offensive rebounds seemed endless for LSU. The junior changes Kentucky offensively, but on defense he changes Kentucky for the worse.

Two's Company

Kentucky has a certain trend that will definitely cause trouble down the road if more players don't contribute. Tyler Ulis and Jamal Murray scored 44 of UK's 67 points, no other player in blue had more than six.

The combo of Ulis and Murray have become a solid back court duo, but it won't be able to hold up the entire team all year. There will be days these two don't shoot well and are out of rhythm. What then? Someone has to step up, or else they might find themselves in a bad shooting night during a March game.

Wildcat Tamer

Kentucky didn't exactly shut down Simmons, he just wasn't as active as he usually is. While Simmons was off standing in the paint, the Tigers found that they had another player who felt like ending the 'Cats.

Tim Quarterman went 9-of-15 from the field and had 21 points against these Wildcats. LSU would find Quarterman after a good defensive possession by Kentucky and he would drain a three-point shot that would cause blue heads to hang.

This is a great sign for LSU, as they have relied on Simmons all season long to will them to a win. A victory over a top 10 team without Simmons being the top scorer will boost their confidence going deeper into SEC action.

Player Statistics

Tyler Ulis- Ulis recorded a new career high in points with 23 to go along with six assists. The sophomore was the only player on Kentucky with more than one assist, and had six of the Kentucky's eight. A great individual performance by the point guard.

Ben Simmons- In only 27 minutes of play, the best player on the floor finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. That is Simmons' 11th double-double of the season.

Tim Quarterman- Quarterman had a loud double-double with his 21 points and 10 boards. It was obvious he came ready to play against a lackadaisical three-point defending team and he capitalized on it.

Jamal Murray- Although not close to his career high, Murray recorded 21 points on 9-of-17 shooting. The freshmen continues to shoot near 20 shots a game, he needs to select better shots and become more consistent.

Craig Victor- Victor took advantage of the Kentucky big men fouling out and finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Seems nearly all of his rebounds were offensive with how little he was boxed out.
