Indiana starters: Yogi Ferrell, Thomas Bryant, Robert Johnson, Collin Hartman, Troy Williams

Teams are finishing warm ups and starters should be announced shortly

For time and typing sake, Indiana will be referred to as IU while Ohio State will be referred to as OSU

Indiana is one of the most proficient offensive teams in the country while Ohio State is a defensive minded team

The game clock on the stadium reads 29 minutes until tip off here from Assembly Hall. Should be a fun one with both teams coming in undefeated and with both teams playing contrasting styles

Hello everyone, I'm Josh Eastern and I am LIVE from Assembly Hall where we are just about an hour from tip off

Both of these teams are off to tremendous starts here in the Big Ten, which makes Sunday’s matchup a bit of a measuring stick game for both teams. Playing on the road in the Big Ten is tough, but Indiana has won twice so far away from home while Ohio State is coming off of a road victory. It should be a fun game Sunday afternoon in Bloomington.

Indiana coach Tom Crean has had to play around with the lineup a bit and now with Blackmon Jr. on the shelf, it has been Collin Hartman that has taken the open spot in the starting five. Off of the bench, Crean has Max Bielfeldt on the inside to go along with O.G. Anunoby who has played some great minutes off of the bench when Indiana has needed it most. Nick Zeisloft is another guard off of the bench who can come in and knock down some threes if needed. Crean has limited it mostly to those three off of the bench, but lately Juwan Morgan has been getting more time, which deepens this Indiana team without Blackmon Jr.

On the inside, the Buckeyes grab about 39 rebounds per game and are led in the rebounding category by Jae’Sean Tate who grabs 6.6 boards per game while Keita Bates-Diop grabs 6.2 boards per game. Loving also contributes on the glass with 6.0 rebounds per contest.

The Buckeyes are averaging 71.8 points per game and are led in the scoring category by 6'8" forward Marc Loving who averages 14.9 points per game.  This team does not shoot the three at a particularly high rate, but if they need a three pointer, Kam Williams is the shooter as he is knocking down 44.9 percent of his shots from behind the arc. Williams averages just 7.4 points per game, but is coming off of a 21-point performance at Northwestern.

According to KenPom, the Buckeyes are the 19th best defensive team in the country if you’re looking at the AdjD statistic at 93.7.  They also rank 21st in the country in points allowed with just 63.1, which makes for an interesting matchup against a Hoosiers team that scores 85.9 points per game.

As for Ohio State, they come in ranked 46th in the KenPom rankings as of January 7. The Buckeyes had a rough time of it early on in the season, but have started to turn it around with a non conference win over Kentucky, along with three marquee Big Ten wins to start off the conference slate.

James Blackmon Jr. was also a key contributor before undergoing surgery on his knee that is expected to keep him out for the rest of the season. This is a big loss on the offensive side of the floor, but on defense, the Hoosiers might actually become better.

The Hoosiers are off to a solid start in Big Ten play with two road wins at Rutgers and Nebraska before knocking off Wisconsin at home. Yogi Ferrell has been the main man for the Indiana as the senior point guard is averaging 17.0 points per game and is coming off a 19 point performance on Tuesday. Another big time contributor has been freshman big man Thomas Bryant who is averaging 11.9 points per game along with five rebounds.  A big key for the Hoosiers is protecting the rim and Bryant has made tremendous strides since the beginning of the season. Troy Williams and Robert Johnson are also key contributors to the offense, which is what this Indiana team is known for as they can score the basketball.

Indiana leads the series between the two schools with a mark of 103-77. The Buckeyes have had the Hoosiers’ number in the past few meetings as they have won nine of the last thirteen along with four of the last seven in Bloomington.

The Buckeyes are coached by Thad Matta who is currently in his twelfth season at the helm of the program. Matta has had a tremendous amount of success at Ohio State as he has a winning percentage of .758 to go along with three Big Ten championships and two Final Fours. He is also 12-8 against the Hoosiers in his career.

The Hoosiers are coached by Tom Crean who comes into his eighth year at the helm of the program. Since taking over in 2008, he has rebuilt Indiana basketball and has put them in contention to compete year in and year out. Crean is almost always under pressure to win at Indiana and this year is no different as they look to get back to the NCAA Tournament.

As for Ohio State, they have won their last seven games and are also off to a 3-0 start in the Big Ten. Wednesday, the Buckeyes were on the road to face Northwestern and came away with a nine-point win against an upstart Wildcats side.

Indiana comes into this game against the Buckeyes with an eight game winning streak along with a 3-0 record to start Big Ten play. Tuesday they faced a tough Wisconsin team at home and, while it wasn’t pretty, they did come away with a one-point victory.
