Highlights and Touchdowns: Iowa 28-21 Nebraska in NCAAF 2021
Iowa rallied to defeat Nebraska on Friday in a surprising comeback that leaves the Hawkeyes alive in the race for the Big Ten West Division title. Nebraska lacked its starting quarterback Adrian Martinez and gave Logan Smothers the first start of his career. Smothers played well in his debut, and it was one of the main reasons the Cornhuskers had a 21-9 lead at the end of the third quarter. Then everything fell apart. The Cornhuskers made critical mistakes to miss the opportunity to end the season with a victory. Iowa started the comeback in the first minute of the fourth quarter by blocking a Nebraska punt that they returned for a touchdown. From then on the Hawkeyes scored 12 unanswered points, including a Safety over Smothers, to make the final score 28-21. With this result, Iowa ends the regular season with a 10-2 record, while Nebraska ends 3-9.
