Outback Bowl 2022
Arkansas is playing in a New Years Day Bowl game for the first time since 2008. The team has not played in a Bowl of any kind since the 2016 Belk Bowl, as the Razorbacks' scheduled appearance in the Texas Bowl 2020 was canceled due to COVID. -19.
This is the Nittany Lions' fifth trip to the Outback Bowl, against five different teams, and their most recent appearance was a 37-24 loss to Florida on January 1, 2011.
This will be the first meeting between both schools.

While the Penn State Nittany Lions received a lot of applause early in the season, notching a major record after a 5-0 start in their opening games, but the team lost five of its last seven outings to fall out of the standings.
That has left the Nittany Lions hoping for a final victory of their 2021 season, although the team would also like to get off to a good start heading into the 2022 season.

Arkansas and Penn State took very different paths to get to the Outback Bowl today.
Arkansas closed out the regular season by winning four of its last five games, losing just by a touchdown to then-No. 2 Alabama along the way. The Razorbacks are looking to stand out after a season in which they defeated Texas, Texas A&M and Mississippi State, all top 25 enemies at the time.

Outback Bowl
The Outback Bowl is an annual college football game played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, usually on New Years Day. The event was originally called the Hall of Fame Bowl from 1986 to 1994 until it was renamed in 1995 by its new title sponsor, Outback Steakhouse.
The Outback Bowl wasn't the first Tampa Bowl game; The Cigar Bowl was played at the old Phillips Field near downtown from 1947 to 1954. However, the previous event coincided with small college teams, making the Outback / Hall of Fame Bowl the first major Bowl game to be played. In the area.
The Outback Bowl is played on New Years Day unless January 1 is a Sunday, in which case it is moved to the following Monday. It is usually the first game to start on a day that is traditionally packed with college Bowl games and starts at 11 AM CT. ESPN has had television rights to the game since 1993. Penn State
The Penn State Nittany Lions have been very uneven this season, going 7-5 thus far. They are led by senior quarterback Sean Clifford, and his experience will help them get ahead in the Outback Bowl. They come into this game after a 30-27 road loss to the Michigan State Spartans. They had a lot of trouble allowing the Spartans to convert for fourth down in three of four attempts during the game.
Leading the receivers in the game was senior wide receiver Jahan Dotson, who finished with eight receptions for 137 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the game, being one of only four players with at least four receptions and 30 yards. Dotson will miss this game as he prepares for the NFL Draft.
The defense is allowing 344 total yards of offense against them and is receiving 16.8 points per game, to rank seventh in the league. So they need to improve, and to win they have to pressure the opposing QB and force punts.

Arkansas
The Arkansas Razorbacks have been playing very well this season, going 8-4 during the regular season. Second-year quarterback KJ Jefferson is running them well so far and that will help them progress through the final stretch of the season. They are coming off a 34-17 home win over the Missouri Tigers. Their biggest problem was that they allowed the Tigers to control the ball by 35:11 throughout the game, which they will have to improve in this game.
Leading the receivers in the game was junior wide receiver Treylon Burks, who finished with seven receptions for 129 yards and a touchdown. He ultimately opted out of this game to prepare for the NFL Draft.
The defense must continue to improve quite a bit if they are to score an Outback Bowl victory, as they are allowing 371.4 total yards of offense against them and 24.0 points per game, ranking 46th in NCAAF Division 1.

It is home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League, as well as the South Florida Bulls football team of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the Tampa Bay Vipers of the XFL. It was inaugurated in 1998, has a capacity for 65,618 people and is expandable to 75,000 for special events. Its name comes from the sponsorship of the Raymond James Financial company.
