Week 2

It's Thursday again and it's time for the Week 3 edition of "49ers Weekly." Last Sunday night, the San Francisco 49ers opened up their brand new Levi's Stadium to host the Chicago Bears. On a game where the 49ers were leading 20-7, the Chicago Bears came back in the second half led by Jay Cutler (23 of 34 for 176 yards, 4 TD's, and 0 INT's), Brandon Marshall (3 TD's), and Kyle Fuller on the defensive side (2 INT's). The Bears would take the lead and finish the game beating the 49ers 28-20.

Injury Report

Did not participate: CB Tramaine Brock (toe), OT Anthony Davis (hamstring), TE Vernon Davis (ankle, knee), C Marcus Martin (knee), TE Vance McDonald (knee), DE Justin Smith (not injury related)

Limited participation: OT Joe Staley (knee)

Full participation: RB Carlos Hyde (calf)

(Per 49ers.com)

The 49ers have a decent amount of players on the injury report. Brock was injured in the 49ers week 1 matchup, and Vernon Davis was hurt in their week 2 matchup against the Bears. The 49ers are hopeful Davis could play Sunday as well as Vance McDonald, but if they aren't a go then Carrier will fill in. Staley will be a probable coming into week 3, it is very likely he plays.

For the Cardinals, Carson Palmer and Andre Ellington were the two notables on the injury report. Palmer sat out of their week 2 matchup against the Giants to nurse a shoulder injury. Ellington was limited last week as well, but ultimately played. He'll be suiting up again this week.

Week 3

The 49ers will travel to Arizona for their week 3 matchup. Both the 49ers and Cardinals' defenses are top-notch and in the past, the games have been very close between the two.

For the 49ers, running the ball consistently will be crucial. The Cardinals defense is great in all areas and the 49ers will have to have establish an early run game otherwise Colin Kaepernick won't be able to pass. The Cardinals defense has the athletes to catch Kaepernick so it's likely he won't have much running room, Arizona will look to make him beat them with the pass. This game will be won in the trenches and will be the 49ers first division game that they need to win. Arizona is coming in at 2-0 and the 49ers 1-1.
