The 49ers defeated the Cardinals 20-17 on Sunday. The win doesn't mean anything for the 49ers' playoff hopes but it's a moral victory to go out on. The game was easily overshadowed by Harbaugh's exit and the ending of an incredible era by Jim Harbaugh. In Harbaugh's 4 years in SF, he posted a 49-22-1 record.

Jim Harbaugh released a statement on Sunday evening: “For the last four seasons I have had the great privilege to coach one of the storied franchises in the history of football. We accomplished many great things together as a team during this period, which is a tribute to the incredible efforts of some of the most dedicated players and coaches in the NFL. I will miss competing alongside this group of players and coaches, I have the utmost respect and admiration for their hard work and support. It has been my honor to share the sideline with these mighty men. I will always appreciate and remember fondly, the passion and support of our Faithful fans, and want to express my particular thanks to them.”

The general public is disgusted, to say the least, with the inability of the 49ers management to come to their senses and work things out with Harbaugh. They have every right to be. For 8 years the 49ers went a combined 46-82, and after 4 years of success they're letting the best thing that has happened to them part ways. It should be a bitter feeling.

"I wish Harbaugh the best; he’s a great coach. I love the way he approaches the game. My best years were with him. When he was here, we won. I know whatever team he goes to, if it’s NFL or college, he’ll get it done," said Frank Gore.

Anquan Boldin also commented on his time with Harbaugh, "Me and him had a connection. I just liked the way that he goes about his business. The same way that I do. No-nonsense type guy. Loves to win. Loves to compete. You see it in the way that he comes to work every day. The guy loves the game of football. I believe if he still could play he would probably be out there."

This writer is right there with all of you 49er fans out there. The thing that every fan should attempt to remember is that times will hopefully get better. Remember when 8-8 was a goal that 49ers fans could actually live with and deem a decent season? Well, get used to feeling like that again because the pride from this management is making the fall come a lot sooner and a lot harder.
