Houston Texans Defensive Coordinator Romeo Crennel is a big fan of big defensive lineman. The Texans are looking at someone who they are familiar with in free agent Vince Wilfork, who would have worked with Crennel in New England, as they have decided to bring him in for a two day visit.

Obviously when free agents choose to visit somewhere, the team is going to do everything they can to try to persuade that talented player to sign with them before they leave, and this would be no exception. Wilfork may be 33 years old, but he is in the middle as a run stuffer and this would put him beside J.J. Watt, which would only make it easier for the linebackers behind Wilfork to be more adventurous in some of the blitz schemes.

The fact that Wilfork was cut was a bit of a surprise, but the Patriots had decided to re-sign Devin McCourty and Stephen Gostkowski instead, and just did not have the cap room to bring Wilfork back in at what they had owed him before.

This writer projects that late tomorrow afternoon, it will have been announced that Vince Wilfork is no longer a free agent, and has decided to join the strength of the team that is the Houston Texan's defense.
