Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy has had his suspension reduced from 10 games to four for violating the league's personal conduct policy, as reported by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That'll make the former Pro Bowler eligible to play in Week 5 against the New England Patriots.

Harold Henderson, the former NFL executive appointed by Roger Goodell to hear Hardy’s appeal, ruled to cut Hardy's suspension from 10 to four games. However, Greg Hardy and his representatives have repeatedley said they would challenge any ruling greater than two games because that was the league punishment at the time of his domestic violence charge.

While that has been their stance from the beginning, Hardy's camp and NFLPA will digest and discuss the reduction before deciding whether to continue the fight in court.

Last summer Hardy was convicted of two counts of domestic violence against his former girlfriend in North Carolina. The charges were later dropped when his accuser failed to show up for the appeal trial. The NFL conducted its own investigation, including numerous interviews with witnesses and experts, and determined that a league punishment was necessary.

Hardy appealed the suspension in May.

The alleged assault occurred before the NFL adopted a new policy against domestic violence; however, commissioner Roger Goodell noted that the punishment would have been appropriate under any version of the league’s policy.

Regardless of whether or not Greg Hardy continues to fight his case or not, the news is a positive win for the Dallas Cowboys, who should be thrilled for having Hardy for at least 12 games this upcoming season. It's also a big win for Hardy money wise, as his contract with the Cowboys calls for him to be paid $578,125 per game when he is active. By his suspension being reduced by six games he's now eligible to retain $3.5 million if he plays in every game.

Gregy Hardy will at worst case miss Dallas' first four games consisting of games against the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, New Orlean Saints and the Atlanta Falcons. Hardy will most likely play his first game at AT&T Stadium against the New England Patriots.

Hardy is a huge upgrade to the Cowboy's defensive line that also added Randy Gregory in the second round of this past NFL Draft.
