In June of 2015, Eric Berry was officially declared cancer-free after being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma back in 2014. On July 13th, 2016, Berry received Comeback Player of the Year at the ESPYs, having returned to football in Week 1 of the 2015-16 season.

No Backing Down

Berry's fight against his disease inspired people all over the world and the Kansas City Chiefs safety continued to inspire as he returned to Arrowhead Stadium to face the Denver Broncos in last season's home opener. Berry went on to play in all 16 games for Kansas City last year and the former-Tennessee defensive back finished his comeback season with two interceptions and 61 tackles.

Before his diagnosis, Berry was considered one of the NFL's best safeties and returned to his best form after beating cancer, making the 2015 Pro Bowl after his comeback season.

Earlier this year, Berry was awarded Comeback Player of the Year by the Associated Press at the NFL Honors ceremony. The 27-year old was awarded the same award at the ESPYs on Wednesday night, capping off an incredible return to professional football for him.

During his speech at the award show, Berry said, "I'm not accepting this award for me, I'm accepting it for all the fighters out there. Regardless of what your circumstance is, regardless of what your diagnosis is, just keep pushing."

His speech doesn't just show how tough the 27-year old, it also shows dedication and inspires millions.

A 2x All-Pro (2013, 2015), a 4x Pro-Bowler (2010, 2012, 2013, 2015) and a Comeback Player of the Year award are just a few honors that can sum up Eric Berry's NFL journey so far. At only 27, Berry has been through a lot but continues to persevere and prove just how much fight he has in him.
